Well finally! Someone else who actually thought the character of Cronos had something. Thanks Nic. I was beginning to feel as though I was living in a desert, surrounded by rabid SG1 fans. His character was the first one that made me sit up and really take notice of the show, he hovered at the edge of my consciouness long after the episode had ended.
That's called 'good acting'. He was an attractively oily, mean, menacing creature, who made me really think about the Goa'uld as something rather formidable. His calm, but utter disregard for everything human spoke volumes. In comparison, the rest of them looked like jokes, the only other one who came close to giving me those feelings in the show was Hathor, and in the film, Ra. the rest are a complete joke.
But so far, in amongst all of the SG1 and Apophis hysteria, characters like him haven't stood a chance. And they killed him off, which was singularly the stupidest thing they could have done.
But then maybe Ron Halder had commitments which precluded him from taking on a regular spot, and maybe he was sensible enough not to want to be typecast. So in many ways, although I miss the character of Cronos, I applaud the actor for being sensible about his career.
