What do YOU want to see?

thank you Anni you managet to set down into words what i've thought for quite a while now..

I always thought that RDA was more interested in the "commercial aspects" and not in the quality...
and i don't know why, but i've got this strange feeling that this guy is so proud of himself and self centered that he kisses his mirror every chances he gets..and that he always puts HIS character (jack)in front, and leaves the others behind..(don't you think that jack IS the center of the show, and that the rest of SG1 is just there to "assist" him??)

whatever...i really dohope that it will get better in season 6

Are you guys starting a RDA boycott or something? I just got off the phone with him and he said he wants to give you free phone cards, but only if you stop whining!
LOL

Hey, Stillzen! I noticed your creative "sarcastic sh**" under your user name! It's showing!

I must admit, I have thought about some of what you're saying. Although, since Geffen took the risk getting Stargate going, it's only fair they get the lion's share of the glory.

I also hope Season 6 gets better. So far I'm very disappointed with this season's epys.

Hmm, I'm not disappointed, but I do agree I have seen better episodes.
Uk is up to "48 Hours" - that's about mid way through the season isn't it? Hopefully the last half of the season is going to provide us with some blindingly good episodes:D

I'd like to see Action/Adventure, new cultures, and an equal role for everyone on the team.

All Teal'c does these days is raise an eyebrow, Daniel went from co-star to extra (I suspect RDA was jealous), and Ferretti, Major Griff, and Lt. Simmons just disappeared.

a) Theft of the stargate from the SGC by some renegade alien - perhaps a "bad" Asgard ; plot would require SG-1 to be off-world to allow them to overcome the problem - simply phoning the Tok'ra etc. for help would just be a cop-out

b) A universal scale plantery/galaxial shift, of a scale such that all the gate addresses become invalid , or much worse, end up at a different destination

c) Some sort of "millenium bug" style universal glitch in the gate network

d) there is still plenty of scope for many of the ancient gods and goddesses / mythology

e) more depth into some of the Egyptian myths, or current belief about them - e.g. powers of the pyramids

f) something about Atlantis, and who they were - the ancients?

g) some airborne virus that gets into SGC and escapes onto earth, which has a long incubation period. Would need identifying and then curing, without alerting the population

h) something with the parallel universe mirrors - an alternative "bad alien" (or human) is jumping into and out of ours, perhaps on earth, or elsewhere, and doing damage, stealing stuff or whatever, and does some serious damage before SG-1 can stop them

i) find some invention, perhaps Machellos, and fiddle with it to try time-travel... but it goes wrong, leading to universal time dislocations, pockets of differently speeded and other anomalous time, which of course the other races will be tee'd off about

j) some discovery that shows that despite the goa'uld using the Tauri to populate the galaxy, humans were actually brought TO earth prior to that

k) some technology that allows short-term viewing of the future, but presumably will have bad side-effects so that they have to stop using it, destroy it or give it back

l) anything with the Reetou in

m) bring back any of the bit parts whom we have not followed up but must still be alive and useful

n) some bizarre property of the stargate:
i) crossing of two wormholes at the same time, means ending up in an unkown destination [actually, not much scope for plot :(]
ii) something newly discovered about going into the destination end of the wormhole, which turns out to be non-fatal (which is presumably the assumption, with previously no way to prove or disprove it)

o) I could go on... :naughty:

WOW....all I want and more, most especially f, k, and b! And....... will I be yelled and screamed at and forced to run for my life if I mention the terrible S***** word?

lots of ideas there. A few have been treated before. Not to give away stuff, or knock the ideas, but if you're not up to season 4 or 5 yet you're thinking a lot like the producers!

Bad alien in "Fifth Man" causes some confusion.
"Upgrades" with the bad effects of the armbands.
The pocket of time thing in "WoO" dealt with that.
"Red Sky" where 'Gating affected stuff on a solar system wide scale.
Atlantis is basis of the the spinoff series rumor.

i) crossing of two wormholes at the same time, means ending up in an unkown destination [actually, not much scope for plot ]
LOL! I have visions of Ghostbusters: "Crossing the streams: Bad!" Maybe combine this idea with the Millenium Glitch idea and have one hellofa bad day for teams trying to get home.

b) A universal scale plantery/galaxial shift, of a scale such that all the gate addresses become invalid , or much worse, end up at a different destination
Save this to end the series once and for all! The Tau'ri are stuck Earth-bound for another thousand years while reverse engineering spacecraft. :rolly2:

Hi I'm new.

The following is taken from the FAQ at www.mgm-stargate.com, the official website for the series.

"The Stargate contains nine chevrons. Although the gate has nine chevrons, typically only seven of these are used when dialing from a gate. In the episode The Fifth Race, an eighth chevron was activated (thanks to the Asgard) and Carter noted, "The extra chevron must add a new distance calculation to the existing points, like a different area code." So far, the eighth chevron has been used only once (on the Earth Stargate), and the purpose or function of the ninth chevron is still unknown. "

I'd like to see Carter figure out how to lock ALL 9 chevrons, and possibly use the gate to travel to other galaxies apart from the ones they've already explored (i.e. the Asgard home galaxy, the Milky Way (where Earth is) , and the galaxy they hyperjumped to in the gou'ald mothership at the end of season 4 (? I think)).
I'd also love to see Apophis DEAD ONCE AND FOR ALL. I'd like to see lots more Asgard related episodes, the Ancients, the Furlings, and I'd like to see the taur'i become "the fifth race" at the end of season six. I'd also like no more politics/conspiracies **** and lots of kick *ss Jaffa's and Gou'ald's. Also, I'd like it if we found out who built the Stargate and the Stargate network :D (the Asgard, maybe?).:

I would like to echo the comments that people have made regarding open storylines that have just been left hanging. There have been many episodes where at the end I have thought, hmmm I think this might be the beginning of some kind of arc - Aris Boch was one that I was speaking about on another thread - I think he was in the ep Deadmans Switch. His backstory seemed ripe for further exploration.

Another thought I have had on several occasions since the end of the first series was that they should have a storyline that involves the "Alpha" or "Beta" site (depending on which reality :) ) - surely this site would need a lot of work put into it, and is quite an important part of the SGC's existence. I am sure they could work an interesting story around it - perhaps some kind of false alarm sends those nominated through (pres etc) and then an unforeseen threat has to be dealt with on the other side.

I have never been that imaginative so please don't shoot me down in flames!
:)

Hi Leprykawn - I agree that Apophis should finally be gone for good, but that Peter Williams is just damn good! It would be a shame if the series ended without any real exploration into why exactly the ancients built the stargates, or what happened to them and the furlings - again, lots of clues, no explanations (hmmm those people comparing the show to the x files might be on to something you know ;) )

OK. This could be a bit of a SPOILER, so:

Whatever happened to the Gou'ald that Simmons/ the NID captured in season 5 (He was seen in the episode Tealc Interrupted/48 Hours) ? Is he still in the NID's custody? I would like to see an expansion of that storyline.

Ah..... I made that very point after the showing of that episode, and it appears to be one of those things that the Stargate people have fudged over once again. My bet is that they don't expect any of you to think that far ahead or deeply. Which is stupid and shortsighted of them, because most diehard Stargate fans know every single nuance of the show.

I feel that the producers, writers etc of Stargate have become arrogant and this is largely due to the intense fan reaction they have received. They seem to think that they can trot any old thing out, without explanation and without closure and the fans will ignore these because they adore the show and everyone involved with it.

In reality, the Goa'uld from the NID would now be in official US government custody....and oh my..... given the fact that we humans aren't very nice to each in the first place, an alien life form would stand no chance at all. He would be experimented on, kept alive as long as the US government thought he would be useful and then they would dispose of him. the only thing that he might have on his side is that his host was the head of a multinational corporation, and that the government might have to answer some rather tricky questions as to his whereabouts. but no doubt they would be able to provide some sort of adequate explanation that would satisfy the questioners.

I can't be stuffed, reading the whole thread, so I don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet or not, but I wouldn't mind seeing the Reetou again. And I definetly want to see the Tollan as well. And maybe even a little of Aris Boch (like maybe they accidently run into him again or soemthing).

i don't get the impression from Joe Mallozzi's comments that we will get to see Aris Boch again, and he was an interesting character I thought. Deadman's Switch was definitely one of my most liked episodes. I think the idea of him having the contact he did with individual System Lords in his capacity as bounty hunter with relative freedom in zotting about the galaxy would have been an interesting plot thread. But they seemed to have dismissed it as unimportant somehow.

The Tollan are obviously fairly well decimated I would think and unlikely to make an appearance in any important capacity...I would suspect that this was a deliberate act on the writer's parts to make earth fairly lacking in support from powerful allies when it comes to a knock em down, drag em out fight with Anubis. The Asgard are also sort of out of the equation with their own problems.

About the Reetou... well, I don't know. For me, they were a sort of Space, Above and Beyond sort of creature... and that kind of enemy doesn't do anything for me, as the Replicators don't either. This sort of mindless, obvious horror factor was never impressive for me. I much prefer the more subtle idea of an enemy like the Goa'uld who exist in the same form as a human... There is nothing more horrible than someone or something familiar turning into something amoral and hostile. This is much more terrifying for me than rubber or computer generated monsters.

Weren't they invisible?

I have to agree with Anni, faceless, enemies devoid of any personality aren't interesting. I enjoy a good villain. That's why I always preferred the Klingons to the Borg.

As for Season 6, we can only hope they'll take a hint and not bring Cadet Haley back, or if they do, she turns into 'redshirt of the week' and gets offed.

I'd also like to see more exploration, mythology and adventure, not NID conspiracies.

If TPTB must revisit an old storyline, it should be the one about Aris Boch. HE was an interesting character. Of course M&M would probably turn him into yet another wimpy sap who falls in love with Sam and gets killed.

ummm

I think this season they might have some big changes since there basicly building up to the fact that they have no allies left. I am pondering that the thought that the SG is gonna have ot make a more agressive move with having glider hybrids or if not having space ships of our own. The idea sounds faulty to me considering how they still try to keep the SG as ground troops without any space crafts but since the last season is on sci-fi I think they may adopt a big change to the show.

I found it interesting that in the recent Mazzolli interview he said that they were in the middle of writing 5 epsiodes for s6 that will feature Jonas Quinn/Corin Nemec.

This just seems totally stupid to me concidering Meridian hasn't aired yet and we haven't even met the guy. What if there's a negative fan reation to this guy? (As I assume there would be since he's replacing Daniel - a character that we've loved for years). What's the point of writing all these episodes with him in them if they don't know what the fan reaction is going to be yet? It just seems rediculous to me. If we all end up hating this character, we'll be stuck with him.

I agree Shelby.

Another thing that is bothering me is, why are they going to all the trouble of fleshing out this character when we all know for sure that season six is to be the final season.

I read that mallozzi (or it might have been Brad Wright - sorry, can't remember :) ) also said that they hadn't even begun to think about the spin off series (although surely they must have some idea if they have already given it a title :) ). SO therefore it doesn't seem as if they are bringing this guy in for the sole purpose of hooking the viewers on to him so that he can lead the spin off.

Basically all I am saying is: If the fans hate him, then all they have done is aggravate the people who love the show (and will create profits in the long term for the creators/producers), and if they love him, then it's mean to only get him for one season.

Either way, I think I will definitely be watching his episodes and character development with apprehension. That's not to say I am won't be open-minded, I just believe that the chemistry between Jack and Daniel is what the entire series was founded upon. It will be very interesting to see what happens in the next season without Daniel about.

Did it occur to anyone that Mr Mallozzi just likes to come online and yank everybody's chain?

He graciously comes on the internet to talk to....let's face it.... hungry fans. Fans who are so hungry that they will scour the internet and the TV listings just for something vaguely Stargate or even these tiny little obscure parts that the actors have played previously to Stargate. Fans who flesh out and create more of the Stargate universe than the actual writers and producers have the talent to do themselves. And they get paid for it!

Very often I marvel more at the inventive and sometimes ingenious plots....explanations...fics....and technical thoughts of the fans on these lists much more than I actually marvel at the episodes. For me, coming on these lists and listening to the conversations is often more entertaining than watching the show.

But this writer for Stargate.... he is something else entirely. He comes on, knowing full well the situation with the fans. He drops a snippet here....a snippet there..... Some it is probably right and does sort of happen.... but a lot of it is pure talking through his rear end.

Who knows why they are fleshing the new character out? Maybe they don't actually care what we think because....well Season Six is a definite on Sci Fi.... the deal is done, the money has exchanged hands....there is nothing to prove to anyone on the business side because it's not as if they're trying to get another Season out of Sci Fi. I would imagine that many of the people working on Stargate have already switched off and have their chuff charts up.

And so what if the fans are upset with the new character and dislike him.... Season Six will see the end to it... the production people, actors and crew will wrap up, have a huge self congratulatory party and move on to projects new. Leaving the fans with an empty slot in their viewing and a lot of storylines unfinished.

Season Six I imagine will be a hotch potch of everything they ever wanted to do, done with the minimum of fuss and care.....and that will be the end of it. As for the spin off....well.. I think I'll just reserve judgement.

You'll get what they give you in Season Six.

..Thats what I'm afraid of..:( God, I hope its better that S5!! If not, I'm switching off and going over to "Angel"

Sure, Mazzolli might be trying to float his character as a big part of season six, but just like we've got a 'floater' story that's been rescheduled two different times over two and a half years, they can scrap stories as needed. I'm sure his take on the season isn't the only one in the office.

I'm just so steamed that this is turning into the same old thing we just went through on the X-Files with John Doggett! He got put on the show with two camps already established. And even the announcement that they got a quality man as an actor to play him didn't sweeten the deal.
