By waiting, it will be worth finding out if Patrcick Stewart is in number 2 or not

Patrick Stewart is going to end up in half the franchises in SciFi.

And Ian Mckellen in the other half!

Is this Dr. Octopus villain confirmed?

Would Harry Osbourne not take over the Green Goblin mantle to revenge his father's death?

I've not read the comics, so like Bayleaf, I don't know what other the other foes of Spiderman there are available.

Yep, Doc Oc is definitely going to be in it. British actor Alfred Molina is to play him. I am not sure who the other villains are to be, but I did also read that Bruce Campbell will be making another appearance - hopefully with a bigger part this time.

Osbourn's son does take over his father's role (in the comics), but I don't know whether they would want to pursue that angle right away - perhaps fodder for the third movie though.

There has been speculation over the last week or so that Maguire might not be physically able to take on the Spider Man role for the sequel, and there were reports all over the place that Dunst's real life boyfriend, Jake Gyllenhaal, was to step in. Maguire apparently hurt his back on his latest movie, Seabiscuit. This was all huriedly denied, but there still seems to be soem worry over Maguire's health, so who knows.

'Dreamwatch' issue #104 said that earlier plans were to have more than one villain -- The Lizard, alias one-armed scientist Dr. Curt Connors was to feature.

But, now it is likely to only feature Dr Octopus played by Alfred Molina.

Other characters being casted will be:

Kara Carter, played by Lindsay Lohan (Parent Trap and Freaky Friday).

Daisy, an intelligent 40-something Earth-mother.

Tanner, a male college science professor.

A range of women aged 30 to 50 for a party scene.

An Italian Pizza shop owner.

Not a villian per se, but I did see some spoiler pics for this film in which Picard's love interest from Insurrection was standing next to Molina.

I

It would be very cool if they could get a Spider-man vs. Venom live action. Maybe spider-man #3. It would be soo cooool. Venoms always been my favortie villian. as long as they never do Caranage. They would a terrible movie.

SpiderMan 2

Looks darn interesting - DaFoe's boy isn't running around as the "Vulture" yet - but, almost surprisingly, the big villain of this piece is Doctor Octopus - a man who wears a set of long tentacular robot arms about his waist.

As Kirsten Dunst didn't die on the bridge like she did in the comics, it means we get an extended emotional torture of Toby Maguire in this film. IS this an element that should have been in the comic books?

Either way, watch the trailer - or download it - from here:

Re: SpiderMan 2

I wasn't terribly impressed with the first one so I'm not too hot to see the second. I'll probably catch it at some time after it leaves the theaters.

As far as emotional torture goes - it always gives a little spice to a movie, but Mr. McGuire seems to have only one emotion - sheer despair. Of course, that's just my opinion.
