What Anime and Animation are you currently watching?

Normally I think adding the silliness is distracting (such as when it was done in Eureka 7), but in this case I kind of found it heart warming. I really got a sense of how much these characters really cared about each other.

I can see what you mean though, since my faves include Witch Hunter Robin, Last Exile, and GiTS: SAC.

Talysia: You're absolutely right. Solid State Society is an awesome movie!

Still rewatching Higurashi - near the end of season 2 now. Also Asura Cryin' and Haibane Renmei.

Just watched "Vampire Hunter D". Original movie, not the sequel.

Although the first movie is decent, the sequel surpasses the original in all aspects. Better story, better characters, and the animation is of far higher quality.

Current Season:

Darker Than Black season 2
Seitokai no Ichizon
Nyan Koi!
Sasameki Koto
Hetalia Axis Powers
Tatakau Shiso

These all have about 5-6 episodes out each, and are still airing (exception of Hetalia which are comedic shorts, of which there are currently 52). Thus far none of them are disappointing, but it's still early.

basically what i'm watching now is a long list of things.. so i'll try not to miss any out xD

Bleach - great anime.. this filelr is too long and boring now though, so im going off it abit
Naruto Shippuden - absolutely 100% better than original. and the up-and-coming Uchiha fight is making me wet myself in anticipation.
FMA: Brotherhood - i recomend this to anyone.. even the pope.. much better than the original.. and its is almost word for word the manga.
Akkikan - a weird lil anime about certain cans that turn into females..
Black Lagoon S2 - first series was amazing so i had to pick up series 2..
Clannad - odd but i like it
Negima! - the original with the awkward romance in it is funny.. but highly weird that a 10yo magi falls for a 14-15yo girl..
Claymore - i've almost finished this one.. and i cant wait. i give it 7/10.
Code Geass S2 - truly amzing
Dear Boys - a non-gay orientated basketball anime..
DIGIMON & POKEMON - if you dont like these two, hang you heads in shame and fall on your swords. they are a must see coz its cheesy and fun.
Tenjou Tenge - amazing this is.
Ikki Tousen - the anime everyone has seen but is embarrassed to admit xD

and finally.. the Legendary Tale of Vash The Stampede

TRIGUN!!!

FMA: Brotherhood - i recomend this to anyone.. even the pope.. much better than the original.. and its is almost word for word the manga.

This is the first I've heard of it, and a quick trawl around the interwebs hasn't much me much the wiser about what it actually is. Is it an improved version of the original series which sticks to the manga after the original diverging point?

What's better about the early episodes? (Since the anime was pretty close to the manga early on)

Does it stick more closely to the manga, absolutely. Is it better over-all, it depends on who you ask. Some people are loving it, and others are feeling it to be a bit too rushed and focused on action which they feel diminishes some of the more intense character development that took place in the original animated series. My jury is still out, although I am noticing the quickness of the pace so far (which I hear improves in later episodes).

Thanks for the info Kei. I preferred the intrigue and character development to the action in the original. I also found the anime storyline better than the Manga so far (I'm reading the manga more out of a sense of "I've started so I'll finish"). So I guess I won't be rushing out to get this one yet.

Watching season 1 of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Awesome. Easily outranks any japanese anime I can recall having watched.

The original anime is my fav anime, it was great.

But the manga gets more serious, darker, better action. Read until vol 10+. When its about stories, characters the anime didnt have.

You have to respect the manga no matter what. Because the anime you like are nothing but a copy of the manga. 60 % of the original anime was from the manga. The rest was fillers so they dont catch up to the manga.

It's been a while since I watched any anime, but I've recently been catching up with Clamp's excellent Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle.

I just watched "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" and quite liked it although it was a bit too teen oriented for my tastes (probably because I'm too old!) but it was beautiful to watch and I liked the soundtrack (lots of classical piano playing). The English dubbing was awful though. I had to switch it back to Japanese and turn on the subtitles...even though that takes your eye away from the picture.

I just finished watching the complete Death Note series. Even though they were killers I was sad for Light and Misa.

I recently headed down memory lane and rewatched the excellent Martian Successor Nadesico. Planning on watching Legend of the Four Kings soon, too.

I just watched the silent vampire classic "Nosferatu", but with a twist. It had a musical soundtrack by "Type O Negative". The spooky music really spiced up the old classic.

Been watching Haibane Renmei with my son. A little slow, different from my usual fare, but perfect for him and I quite like it.

I liked Haibane Renmei when I saw it a couple of years ago. The gentle pace and the charming storyline made a lovely change from what I'd been watching prior to that. I must watch it again - thanks for reminding me!:)

Continuing my trip down anime-memory lane, I've been rewatching Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal. I'd forgotten how much I liked these.

Not long ago I ploughed through the second and third seasons of Avatar: the Last Airbender on DVD, and really enjoyed it. In fact it was so good that when I was thinking about its few faults (world too simplistic, not enough sense of real danger, etc), I realised I was comparing it to much more mature series rather than other progs for kids.

OOh i loved Avatar: The legend of Aang when it was on, it was really enjoyable. Ufotunately they've decided to mkae a live-action film verson ofit so watch for major slaughtering of storyline and characters.

Im going to go back and fiinsh watching Samurai Champloo, i got sidetracked last time, might re-watch The wallflower as well cos it was so damned funny :D
