Favourite characters?

Here are some of my favorites:

The Hound (Sandor) - He is the epitome of an angry "gray" character that we, for some reason or another, want to do well.

Roose Bolton - Real nasty individual, possibly even more devious that Littlefinger (more subtle, too).

The Greatjon - I'd like to see more deveolpment of his character in further books.

Ser Jorah Moromont - I found his story to be engaging and quite sad. There was a lot to learn thru him, espically in ASOS.

Dude, he owns it? My bad. I shouldn't offend owners.

No problem - taken in good faith. :)

Just try not to be too expressive in various criticisms of people/characters, though - this is still a family friendly site. :)

Yeah, "too expressive" could be dangerously unfriendly for families.

Definately my favourites bro! But hey, if the obscure ones appeal to you, then cool. I personally hated Roose and can't wait until Stannis feeds him Lightbringer. Should be a great scene of justice there!

Here you go...
Maybe an forgotten favourite of all but how bout Asha?

She played Theon like a fiddle and then showed up at Winterfell with like 3 guys! You have to wonder what her fate will be. She won't win the kingsmoot - because women cannot rule ironmen (or any men for that matter).

[line edit by I, Brian]

I gotta stick up for Davos. Someone said he was boring, but I like him. He's loyal, true to his beliefs, and pretty ballsy, too - stealing the kid (I can't remember his name, Robert's ******* - was it Edric Storm?) out from under the Red Woman's nose, risking his own hide being sent to the fire, and then telling the slowly-going-mad Stannis he was fighting the wrong war - without him the Wall would likely have fallen.

But I think Dolorous Edd takes out my absolute favourite. Gotta love that dry wit. I like Arya, too, and Syrio Forrell (sp?) who I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned here. Just so.

Good call on Asha - I'd almost forgotten about her. And I wasn't too fond of Roose as an individual either, but the character was excellent, especially the vivid imagry conjured up when Martin describes his fetish for leeching himself on a regular basis.

Three guesses as to who my favorite character is.... anyone? Anyone? Gotta love a survivalist. How many girls do you know who would eat worms to survive? And for that matter, Weasel Soup anyone?

In the defense of Sansa, first of all, let's all look at how old she is. Twelve years old, raised to be delicate, and incredibly naive about pretty much everything. I couldn't stand her at first, but I grew to pity her. After all, the things she has to endure (her wolf, father, and for all she knows, her entire family dying, beatings, threats of rape and murder) are pretty intense. Especially since she lacks Arya's tenacity. However, throughout it all, she manages to survive, and she is learning pretty well not to trust people. I think she will learn a lot from Littlefinger while secretly maintaining her distance from him. In GoT, Tyrion remarks to Jon about the importance of honing your wits as much as you do a blade, in order to stay alive. I think Littlefinger will have some valuable lessons to teach her, number one being able to think well. But I do not think Sansa has it in her to become evil. I think perhaps she'll end up being the end of Cersei, who is really a great part of the cause of all of her pain.

As for Asha being a woman and thus not being able to rule Ironmen, I have to agree that I don't think she'll be made Queen. I do, however, look forward to the day that Dany meets up with those sexist seadogs with her dragons at her side.

Other favorite characters include: Bran, Ser Barristan Selmy, Jon, and the Queen of Thorns.

Question: Does anyone like Ygritte? I, like my friends, can't stomach her. She annoys the proverbial crap out of me.

I will only give you two guesses as to who my favorite is.

I liked Ygritte also..."You know nothing!":D

I think I need more guesses as to your favorite, hodor.;)

HAHAHAHAHAHA! I could totally get into that one! :D I can just picture it- Melisandre would be well-spoken and probably go into some long-winded speach about Rh'llor and the attributes of good and evil, fire and shadow and all of her favorite things. Sam would squeak, soil himself, close his eyes and stab at her.

YES!!! sam "the slayer" tarly

on the vs mellisandre topic -- Aeron damphair vs the priestess of rhllor would be an awesome (probably very steamy) fight

Oh God, Melisandre bothers me...so did Ygritte, but to a lesser extent...

Sam's just such a sweetie...and I do admire him more than some of the more blustering characters...He has the stragneg courage Jon mentions, he's brave enough to admit to being a 'coward', but in those moments when it really counts he comes through...

Aye, Sam was an interesting addition to the Wall. However, I am curious as to what new additions take the black in the next book. I feel this will be an issue Martin takes to hand.

Speaking of Sam, I have some spoilerish stuff from Sam's first chapter from AFFC (GRRM just released the chapter to a select few).

Anybody want to hear it? Don't worry, its not going to ruin the book for you, but its definitely something to look forward too. :)

How do you get to be one of the select few, I WANNA; I WANNA!!! :D

And...YES, I'd like to hear it, please...any news is good news in this case...

As long as you mark it with a Spoiler warning, it's the reader's choice isn't it?

I think everyone on here is enough of GRRM junkie that they need a fix anyway :)

Before I write allow me to say that this will probably edited by Brian, because he edits all my stuff out of fear that i am eroding the moral compass of this forum.

The Sam chapter is great, by the way, but it would spoil everything just to tell what happens. Kinda like if you hadn't read the Dany chapter and I told you that her dragon boiled some kid to the bones. So I hope the Lord of Winterfell will shut [Edited by Lacedaemonian] because personally there are days where the suspense just makes it better.

1 more year and we'll all want to slay Martin. I've already cursed him several times for pushing back the pub date.
