Ok, best/fav time for reading?

I like it best when its all nice and quiet, on the couch or on my bed. :)

My favorite time to read is anytime I have a chance to, such as in the morning while eating breakfast, and in the evening while my family is watching tv- I can just tune out the tv and read my book in the same room. I work at a library, and in the break room at lunchtime it is very quiet, because we are all reading while we eat! I can't read in bed, though, because I always end up falling asleep.I had yesterday off work, and found it hard to get anything done because I was in the middle of reading New Moon by Stephanie Meyer. I had to finish reading it first before I could get any housework done.

Thats the magic of the books for you my friend and welcome to Chronicles! ;)

If you just go out of the sub forums, there is a little introduction thread where you can introduce yourself. :)

Haha.

I been thinking about it more and I think it's just down to similar feelings with any hobby.

Example:

I have a 2500 word essay in on Monday 8th Jan. I really need to read up on topic X. However I totally ignore this and go on to read a Fantasy novel leading to my work being a last minute job. I know I should have spent more time doing my essay so in that case I missed out. However the fantasy book raised my morale and so I feel better for it.

Ok bad example but hopefully you get my point. lol.

I can sympathise, I hated essays when I was at college, especially when I kept getting like 3 referals all at once! but that is another subject.

The book is just so more tempting to read. I know when I read my book that there are more important things that need doing such as changing addresses, getting DVLA paperwork off but as you said reading raises the morale.

Funny ins't it...

Reading a novel - raises your morale - good for you but it isn't good for you coz it gets in the way! Lol the world is mad!

Hoorah for fine literature and the respite and soul recharge it gives us!

The best time to read... I try to get some reading done whenever I have free time but I end up doing the majority of my reading at night before I go to bed.

I'd say that is a fine example of living in the world today! Typical :(

In the order of preference:
1 - in bed. On a lazy day, I'll stay in bed and read the day away. Otherwise, I usually read at night until I can't stay awake any longer.
2 - in the bath.
3 - In the garden on a nice summer day. When we are at the cottage, I have this isolated island I go to and set up my chair and cooler with all the necessities. I spend the day reading while hubby is fishing.

In the bath, how do you manage to do that without getting your book thoroughly wet?

24/7
failing that, whenever I have the chance
failing that, lunchtime and underground/train trips
and above all, always on the lookout for the opportunity to get away from anything and everything to read

Haha I tried it once, but I dropped my book. ( I lent on the side of my metal(?) bath at home and it was so cold I dropped my book) Poor, poor Redwall book.

Needless to say I never read in the bath again ;)

I like to read late at night... really late at night usually. Or in class when I'm supposed to be paying attention to a professor.

Haha can't believe I didn't already say this but the bathroom is a good time to read. (Maybe its just a me thing, lol)

Any time is a good time for me to read! I read just about whenever I can! During the day, last thing at night, whenever I've got a free moment. I keep asking myself whether reading is addictive or not (maybe that would be a good idea for a thread), and judging from my reading habits, I'd have to say....yes!:)

I always read in the bath (sometimes until the water goes cold and then I start to regret it :D) and I've only ever dropped a book in the bath once, and that's because it was lying next to it and I accidently knocked it. Unfortunately it was a library book! It wasn't too bad, though, once it had spent a few hours on the radiator...it was just a bit crinkly :D

The best time for reading is night because then all is so quiet and you can imagine the events in the book much better, and the best place is bed. :D

I never read a borrowed book in the bath, for obvious reasons.

I read whenever I can find the time, just seize an excuse, sit in a corner, and shut out the world. Because of that tendancy, I don't leave the house without a book. Ever. If there was a fire, the first thing I would rescue would be my books, as many as I could.

I always read in bed, at night, or in the morning if I don't have any pressing need to get up. I also tend to read when travelling or waiting and never feel guilty about any of it.

Almost anytime and anyplace. Always have a book with me in my bag and scattered all over the house. Read in between work at work; on public transport; in restaurants; while walking on the street.

I guess my favourite reading time would be the night after I get home from work. From about midnight until dawn. I lock the doors and curl up in bed with Plush Cthulhu and Aziraphael the Cat and read. Sometimes there's a bottle Amarula or whisky involved. ;)
