What comic books/graphic novels are you reading at the moment?

i just came across this amazing graphic novel it's by the japanese artist yoshitaka amano and it's called mateki: the magic flute--the art is incredible! and the story is based on mozart's opera which makes it all the more interesting and i was looking up amano online and he's going to be guest of honor at comic con i can't wait!!!

Amano, Amano that name rings a bell, anyone out there help? He'd done some US stuff hasn't he?

Answers own question: Yup, he did Sandman The Dream Hunters with Neil Gaiman and some Elektra for Marvel. A truly amazing artist indeed!

ya his stuff is incredible definitely check out this graphic novel the art is so intricate and amazing!

I got bored in work so I read 'Life Sucks' by Jessica Abel, Gabe Soria and Warren Pleece. It was entertaining. The story is about vampires but has an original take
I am starting - The 9/11 Report A Graphic Adaptation by Sid Jacobson and Ernie Colon. It looks brilliant

Do you have any copies, I would love to give it a read.

my friend and I work with a few artists, most that we have met online

Right I managed to dig out the nearly wordless first part of the strip, and hopefully stuck it online here:

PerpetualMan/Comics/Time Rogues - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

(Just click on the first page and then you get a bigger picture, the arrows in top right hand corner should lead you to the next page)

And this was a more superhero style outing...

PerpetualMan/Comics/Project Knight - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

And of course, if you have any of your own I'd love to take a peak myself.

Looking at these it reminded me just how long ago it was!!!

Probably the wrong thread really, if more of this type of thing, or more people want more of mine or to post their own, PM me (heh PM PM as it were) and I'll start a new more appropriate thread.

Am currently reading the Classic Doctor Who Comics, originally part of Doctor WHo Weekly/Monthly over here. way back in the 1970's. They are good solid fun, with art by Dave Gibbons and it's a damn shame that you can't buy them over here for silly copyright reasons...

Hi there Bud, thanks for the links, I checked out Time Rogues, at was cool...you shouldnt have stopped, I started asking why? and wanted to read more

I'll check out Project Knight shortly

I currently have a couple of stories I have just finished and have pasted to my friend in order to see what he thinks. They are more Synopsis than finished articles

My friend and I also have an entry in the yearly anthology created and published by Accent UK

Each year it is a different theme and this time it's 'Western' We have a 5 page story which we wrote and our other friend provided the art work. As it has not been published yet I cannot unfortunately provide any samples. I have also been accepted to provide an entry for the next book titled 'Predators' you should check them out and see if they have any space left.

Regarding the new thread, I think its a good idea, could potentially work as a showcase for people's work and also bring people artists and writers together.

Hey P man, thanks for the links, I've checked them out and there cool as...
I like the Time Rogues story and wish I knew 'why?' myself, you should have kept going.

Regarding myself I have a 5 page story being published in an Anthology created by Accent UK Comics which is yearly. This year the theme is Westerns. Unfortunately I cannot show any work as the book has not been published yet but look out for it.

I also have a couple of story ideas 2 which I have completed Synopsis for and another to which are conceptual at the mo.

You should definately start another thread so people can discuss their work and who knows it might help writers find artists and vice versa.

I will talk to you on the other side and would be grateful for any advice you have about getting your work published

Thanks

Just asking if anybody has read Gaiman's - Marvel 1602? Let me know if you have and what you think

Think I've answered this one before _ it was okay, but I was not that impressed - I've since had a re-read and been enjoying it a lot more...

Wasn't someone supposed to start publishing a comic book version of Stephen King's The Stand this month? Anyone know anything about that?

I think it is due out now, it's MARVEL doing the publishing so it should not be too hard to find. SFX reviewed it in the latest issue and gave it a big thumbs up!
