The Revived Tolkien Trivia

If you think I am being absurd, then I shall be greatly distressed; but I fear not altered in my opinions. The few people I have been able to consult, I must say, express themselves equally strongly. Anyway I am not going to be treated a la Mrs Tiggywinkle = Poupette a l'epingle. Not that Beatrix Potter did not give the translators hell. Though possibly from securer grounds than I have. I am no linguist, but I do no something about nomenclature and I have studied it, and I am actually very angry indeed.

from the letter to Raynor Unwin dated july 3 1956 (190)

Tolkien is mad that the dutch translator has changed the place names in LoTR

Ok
Who said
But the elves of this land were of a race strange to us of the Silvan folk, and the trees and the grass do not now remember them. Only I hear the stones lament them: deep they delved us, fair they wrought us, high they built us; but they are gone. They are gone. They sought the Havens long ago

'That is true,' said Legolas. 'But the Elves of this land were of a race strange to us of the Silvan folk, and the trees and the grass do not now remember them. Only I hear the stones lament them:deep they delved us, fair they wrought us, high they built us; but they are gone. They are gone. They sought the Havens long ago

Even I know that one!

But I don't want to say it since then I'll have to find the next question :p

"Handses! Knife! String, or nothing!"

Is it a trick question?

Gollum guessed hands, knife, string or nothing. But ofc it was the ring.

Bilbo pinched himself and slapped himself;he gripped on his little sword; he even felt in his pocket with his other hand. There he found te ring he had picked up in the passage and forgotten about.
'What have I got in my pocket?' he said aloud.

*waits to be told she's got the wrong end of the stick and it was a trick question.*

I was just interested as to what answers people would give!

As Joel's prepared to pass on the next question , you win!

The stars...
‘I have crossed many mountains and many rivers, and trodden many plains, even into the far countries of Rhûn and Harad where the stars are strange.’

It's Aragorn speaking to Boromir.
