The Revived Tolkien Trivia

Gah! I saw there's been a new post and turned up expecting to find an answer, and no, it's just people chatting about the thread being stickied!

Normally I guess the frequency of response would keep this thread up at the top anyway, but not this time. What's happened? Do people want another clue? Is everyone having fun somewhere else?

We're having fun elsewhere...oh, that's right, I wasn't suppose to tell you. Pretend you didn't read this. ;)

Well, this has nothing to do with the present question - but as it was a Google search for "Tolkien" that actually led me to this site, it seems only fitting that it should see:

PYAN'S POST #

Congrats Pyan! I have slaughtered a curry in your honour.

Now how about answering the bleedin' question with your 5001st post, eh?

Oh no - I'll give it a bit longer yet, see if anyone else can get it...:D

Congrats Py, quite a ways to go to catch Dave, Highlander or JD.....but giving Gol a run for his money:D.

And to think I was pretty chuffed about passing 500 posts recently...Grimward has been going at a much faster pace than I. Must be all that late night posting he does.

Congrats Py. May your tentacles never stop typing.

That may be true, Clanny, but I had a "magical" 100 post jump last week, which I am guessing originated with a change in which threads/forums "count" where posting is concerned. Am I close to the mark, your greenness? I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only person this applied to.....

Or did I just get a "100 post bonus" for being a nice Grimward?:D

Yes, when the Sports Forum was inaugurated and all the various threads were gathered into it, all posts made in those threads became eligible for Post Count status.

Or did I just get a "100 post bonus" for being a nice Grimward?:D

Dream on...:D:D

777, Grim! Lucky sevens - quick, go gambling before you post again!

(No, I can't recompense you if you lose.)

Methinks we digress...

and Grim, as an avid Wurts fan, you KNOW that there is no such thing as a "nice Grimward"!

Anyone for an answer to HB's question? I haven't a clue.

Well, I considered Galadriel, Shelob, and even Ungoliant but I couldn't find anything appropriate.

That still leaves Arwen, Elbereth, Melian, and possibly Eowyn.

Goldhawk, did you note the "/" in "s/he"? (Although actually, the gender of this character is not given.)

...and Grim, as an avid Wurts fan, you KNOW that there is no such thing as a "nice Grimward"!

Which is only fitting, as there's also apparently no such thing as a 100-post bonus.....

Anyone know what happened to Werewoman? I think she's going thru post-playoff syndrome, as her Panthers have been knocked out....

And, coming back to the purpose here, I've been through QUITE a few characters thusfar...but have at least one more viable one to research before beginning to reach....

Well, I think that 12 days is more'n enough...

It's Sam's Oliphaunt, aka the Mûmak of Harad.

Grey as a mouse,
Big as a house.
Nose like a snake,
I make the earth shake,
As I tramp through the grass;
Trees crack as I pass.
With horns in my mouth
I walk in the South,
Flapping big ears.
Beyond count of years
I stump round and round,
Never lie on the ground,
Not even to die.
Oliphaunt am I,
Biggest of all,
Huge, old, and tall.
If ever you'd met me
You wouldn't forget me.

If you never do,
You won't think I'm true;
But old Oliphaunt am I,
And I never lie
.
