The Revived Tolkien Trivia

I don't know the answer, but I suppose I could find it now Grimward has said so much, but it seems cheating to do that when he had the answer from the beginning.

Just not cricket, old bean.

But Grim's gone on holiday! We can't wait for him to return - he's gone to Rhun and Harad where the stars are strange. On foot!

I think I know but I can't find the quote. What is the official list of books? I know some were mention way back at the beginning and some time later, more were added but I don't feel like scanning through about 100 pages of postings to find out.

Mayhaps this thread needs a FAQ.

Found it, The Return of the King, "The Muster of the Rohan"

'No man knows,' said Théoden: 'yet ancient legend, now
seldom spoken, has somewhat to report. If these old tales
speak true that have come down from father to son in the
House of Eorl, then the Door under Dwimorberg leads to a
secret way that goes beneath the mountains to some forgotten
end. But none have ventured in to search its secrets, since
Baldor, son of Bergo, passed the Door and was never seen
among men again. A rash vow he spoke, as he drained the horn
at that feast which Brego made to hallow new-built Meduseld,
and he came never to the high seat of which he was the heir.

As requested, official books allowed in this thread...

Would that be a Door-bell?

At Minas Tirith he did arrived,
T'was safety that he hoped to find,
But needed Pippin to survive,
Answer to the burning question in his mind.

What question?

No takers yet? Time for a hint:

Hobbits are cool,
'Cause they wear no shoes,
What Pippin wish he knew,
Is something hobbits like to do.

WARNING: The bad poetry will continue until someone answers. I'm not kidding. I have a rhyming dictionary and I know how to use it!

"..what about breakfast and all that?"

Pippin, as a true hobbit, is thinking about his stomach...:p

(Beregond) "What would you know, Master Peregrin?"

"Er well," said Pippin, "if I may venture to say so, rather a burning question in my mind at present is, well, what about breakfast and all that? I mean, what are the mealtimes, if you understand me, and whwere is the dining room?"

Congratulations,
You did well,
To have won
The dinner bell.

With anticipation
We awaited,
Eager for fun,
Your question great.

It's all yours, Pyan.

Hokay!

A nice easy one...

What was The Ring in the Shadow?

I love these easy ones

I'm pretty sure I know what it was, and which book, but I can't find it! But I'll carry on looking.

Yes, I thought everyone knew this. It's the preliminary title of The Two Towers...

If not, I can at the moment think of nothing better than: I The Shadow Grows II The Ring in the Shadow III The War of the Ring or The Return of the King.
Letter 136 To Raynor Unwin

Correct, of course, Marky...a rather small bell goes to you....

And it's your turn...:)

Why a small bell? It took five days for answering! It was really a tough question! I demand a proper-sized bell or I call the police!

Okay...

Who told Aelfwine the legends that became later known as The Silmarillion?

No! Not happy. I'm happy if you answer my question in the next eleven minutes. (eleven yes, because it's the fool's number!)

Sorry, Marky - guess I must be a big disappointment to you...:(
