Good day today, got past the plot problems, kids were lovely and played outside....
up to 27500, chapter twelve. A lot of action scenes, though, i might have to slow it down a little, but that's for the readthrough I think. Starting to dovetail back to the stuff already drafted in about 5000 words. Away to drink fizzy wine and celebrate the weekend!

Ooh. I wrote a sex scene today. That was fun.
I wrote one many years ago, so it's probably not as gooder as stuff what I can write like now.
Boy meets girl by waking up in bed with her. Can't remember anything about the night before beyond a pleasant alcoholic haze. Girl gives him grief about that, and rattles off list of stuff she remembers about him from last night.
Then he realises she remembers no more than he does. She's a telepath, and she's just plucking relevant details from his thoughts and presenting them as last night's remembered conversation.
Once they get all that sorted out, well, they are both naked in bed together. Seemed a shame to let that go to waste.

Progress Researched. Main plot points and outline done. First draft at 20,000 words. (This started out as a series of flashbacks for what is now the second book. The story began to expand beyond a workable level as flashbacks, hence book one of two)
Target A working first draft of roughly 80,000 to 90,000 words by the beginning of July.
Book Two Stoneman Green.(Working Title)
Progress Researched. Main plot points done. Outline will need re-working at various points due to content of first novel. First draft of 30,000 words, but this needs to be reworked in a number of sections relating to first book.
Target A working first draft by the beginning of September of 80,000 to 90,000 words.
After that edit, re-write sections and fit the books together, but still maintaining each as a semi stand-a-lone. Total aim for finished word count for each, roughly 100,000 words.
Oh as to Genre Errrr....Mundane Supernatural? (Both books?) Gentle Parochial Horror?(Book Two?) WWII novel with extra strange bits?(Book One?)

I have 12+ sections and there are still 2 or 3 that feel flat to me that I will return to later as I need inspiration. To balance that I now have 2 or 3 sections that I really like. Another week or more of editing before I push forward again.

58000 and the end of the first draft. A little shorter than I planned, but the last time 60000 moved to 90000 by the end of the many, many rewrites, and I know there is a lot still be added to give some richness, so feeling okay with that. Right, back to the beginning...

Woohoo! I've made it back over 50k again! That's where it was when I picked it up again this year, but I had to chop several very large sections out and was down to 26k.
Some of the chopped bits have been dribbled back in with changes, but most of the extra 24k is new. I think there's only one more scene from the old stuff that may make its way back in, and maybe not even that. Now it's just writing for the homestretch.
Tonight I am leaving it at 50,267 and going to bed.
