The chronicles word counter!

Like the new avatar, Perp. :)

While Inish Carraig is getting some beta feedback, and I need a bit of distance:

Abendau's Legacy (working title, it's awful, I'm hoping something occurs at some point)

3365 words. First scene is proving a little difficult geography wise, but I think the crit-thread have kindly sorted that.
Second scene has been started.
It's like pulling on an old pair of gloves and getting out to the garden in spring. :)

Still editing, and will be for sometime yet. It's good to get the plot squared away in my head all the same, it will help me push on to the ending.

I should be finished sometime in the new year, phew, it's taking ages.

Scanned in the fourth chapter of Mercenary - improved the settings on the scanner and have a better quality of copy, a lot more accurate. Doesn't help the spelling mistakes though, and needs to be completely reformatted.

Under Elysium's Light
Completed to the end of Chapter 11 and well into 12, taking the word count to just over 50,000

Just decided to cut a character and change the relationship between two others from friends to cousins... Will change WIP first and then go back later and do the other two books. Fresh writing on hold until I fix this!

Luckily, its an relatively easy fix. And the story will work a lot better this way.

Culture Shock - Start date May 2012
08/12/2012 – 66,250

A small increase in on word count, which has been a surprise after two weeks of editing - there has been some zapping going on. There were a few ropey sections that needed some work, some bits never look so good weeks later! I'll have to switch gear again now and get creative again - push on to the end...

So after finishing and polishing my decidedly non-SFF novel that's visiting agents' slush piles at the moment, I've finally started my new project.

Thirty Thousand Feet - can you have psychological fantasy-tinged contemporary fiction? If so, that's it: 3,418 words.

Watch this space.

Please make sure that, if you have a doctor, he's sucked into the engine ASAP. ;)

As for me, I have nothing new on the go but I do have a niggle in my head and I'm itching to write.

Novel - Untitiled
Genre - YA Fantasy
Current word count - 17,431
Start date - 19th March 2012
Status - Coming along nicely. As said, i plan to work fuill time on this, so hopefully the first draft will be done by the end of June at the latest, with edits and redrafts taking me through to September. I do plan to complete this piece as best i can, and submit; it will be my first attempt, so I need the tough deadline to motivate, i feel.

Wow, has it been that long since I posted??

Novel - Untitled
Genre - YA Fantasy
Current word count - 111,130
Start date - 19th March 2012
Status - So nine months later and the first draft is done, as well as the first half of the second draft. And it stands currently at about 30k longer than anythi ive written before, so that cant be bad, right? Redraft is too be done by January full time focus with little uni work to do over the holidays. It's a little tardy, but uni came first im afraid. After the second draft is complete its off to a beta reader then hopefully a final draft a few months later, with a couple of things written before then with any luck; a 20,000 word short story and full semi paranormal romance novel (think time travellers wife)

Will try keep the posts a little more regular in the future.

While Inish brews, and I scowl at the start of AC, and I'm stuck in Legacy til I sort out AC, I have a new wip to play with and ignore all problematic things:

UNTITLED, ALTHOUGH I HAVE AN IDEA IF IT WORKS OUT AS I'M PLANNING IT TO:

2667, two chapters written in draft, one might go and be fed in as back story. Already one of the characters is not at all what I planned, and I only have two in it. This does not bode well... :)

Expecting to work on TBM again soon but...

New thing started. This is a joint effort (ooooh!). No title (and the working title is daft!) but currently 985 words from me, and um... a fair bit more from t'other person. Gonna have other dimensiony type stuff in it.

It has been a while since I last updated, so here goes:

Novel: The Cult of Hahn
Genre: Fantasy
Word Count: 76,347 out of ca. 125,000
Status: This is my obsession, but at the moment it is on the shelf. I still need to go back and fill in a few sections, and then write the final third of it.

Novel: Out of the Frying Pan (working title)
Genre: Science Fiction
Word Count: 16,766 out of ca. 80,000
Status: This is my most active project right now. It's quite an exercise in world-building and intrigue. After setting it aside a year ago, I read through it again last night and added two new chapters, and then I was up most of the night thinking about it. There is an old first chapter in the critiques section, but I've rather moved on from there.

Other projects since my last update:
Late nights with Ezzie Dryar, novella, complete at 48,000 words.
Eirica Johnstone's Obsession, novella, 38,466 words. I'm currently revising it and serializing the new version on one of my blogs.
More Late Nights with Ezzie Dryar, novella, WIP at 16,600 words. I'm writing a chapter every day or two, based on a randomly drawn Tarot card, and posting on my main blog. It was so much fun the first time around, that I had to try it again, this time with a paranormal twist. The first was a romance/tarot primer, but this is a little different.
