The chronicles word counter!

Culture Shock - Start date May 2012
20/12/2012 – 67,400

Big edit done. Holidays coming up and I should power ahead again. Work has been keeping me busy this month so low, low word count for me since November. Don't worry, December is not over yet...

Novel: Out of the Frying Pan (working title)
Genre: Science Fiction
Word Count: 20,264 out of ca. 80,000

It's going very quickly right now, almost writing itself. 3500 words in a couple of days. Lots of short chapters. I'm not used to working that way. We'll see if it works.

TBM version 1: 83,735
TBM version 2: 84,443
TBM version 3: 83,735 (ok, same as version one, but I've swapped things about so it's different.

*head explodes*

On a positive, new WiP = over 5k.

Well done, Mouse. I'm very bad at revising. I have to let it simmer while I work on something else before I go back to it.

Galaxy flowers (working title, must get proper one) 9494. Having a brief hold while I think about the structure and do some planning.

Abendau's Legacy 10,443 having fun with this one. Much mayhem ensuing, much cackling from her evilness, much noble heroics. Space opera popcorn. :)

It's been a while...

Novel: The Eternity Sphere
Genre: SF for YA
Word Count: 101K
Status: Draft 5 (and final). I've amended incidences of WAS as far as chapter 6, FELT up to chapter 8. Still to do - act on readers' feedback.

Novel/Novelette/Short Story (who knows?): The Fall
Genre: Rural, then Urban Fantasy/Horror
Word Count: 1,400
Status: I know the beginning, I know the ending. Feeling my way through a first draft, hoping the story will come to me as I write slowly

oooh. Exciting, you guys.

Novel: Heart's Desire
Genre: YA. I have a nasty feeling it's dystopian but let's call it fantasy for now.
Word count: c 5,000, but about half of that's notes. Aiming for about 60-70,000.
Status: Plotting, plotting, plotting... (muhahaha). I know what happens in sections 1 and 2, now I'm flailing around section 3 trying to work it out.

New Year's eve seems as good a time as any to log progress:)

Galaxy of flowers, unchanged, but it's taking shape in my head
Abendau's Legacy 13000, and then I got a bit stuck and went back to the beginning of the whole sheboogally

Abendau, book one (need to think of a title, maybe Sunrise, perhaps something more lyrical if I think of it), the one I ditched when I got here as I couldn't, couldn't, couldn't write it. (specifically her nibs.)
On 14000 words, double third pov between the protagonist and antagonist, it's flying out and I'm having a lot of cheesy space opera-y fun. :D

Brand spanking new joint venture: over 18K.

TBM: Still sort of... languishing.

I'm having the stirrings of a new idea too. Well, a sort of sense of an idea. I have no plot or setting yet but a character keeps poking my brain. So we'll see.

My brand-spanking-new...er....rewrite of The Blind Tiger (almost wrote Bling there, that would be a quite different story...): 9,354 words and certainly not hating it yet. Insulting prison guards and stabbing people in the eyesies abound.

Wow, has it been that long since I posted??

Novel - Untitled
Genre - YA Fantasy
Current word count - 111,130
Start date - 19th March 2012
Status - So nine months later and the first draft is done, as well as the first half of the second draft. And it stands currently at about 30k longer than anythi ive written before, so that cant be bad, right? Redraft is too be done by January full time focus with little uni work to do over the holidays. It's a little tardy, but uni came first im afraid. After the second draft is complete its off to a beta reader then hopefully a final draft a few months later, with a couple of things written before then with any luck; a 20,000 word short story and full semi paranormal romance novel (think time travellers wife)

Will try keep the posts a little more regular in the future.

Novel - Untitled(still)
Genre - YA Fantasy
Word count - 123,916
Start date - 19th March 2012
Status - The first redraft has been finished today. I know there is still a fair deal of description, world building and several scenes to add in... But for now it's off to a beta reader, who is very keen to 'mark' it. It's only my third piece to be finished to such a degree, so im quite pleased with myself... the others will be returned to when my brain allots them sufficiant thinking time.
I have to revise now for an English lit exam in two weeks. But after that I'm onto the aforementioned short story and semi paranormal romance.

Between query hell I've got this up to 25028 words, about 10000 behind where I wanted to be at this part of the story, but I think a second draft will address that. I still don't even know if this will ever be a book, but it does want to be written. :)

At last the WIP is moving forward. I have done a read through of what be written so far and am pleased with it. Done a bit of editing as I read through and sorted out the time line. Done a good 1,000 words this evening of new prose. This makes the total of a fairly good first draft of about 37,000 words. I need to add at least 20,000 more by the end of the month. I can do this. I need to do this. No more excuses. Come March I hope to be looking for a couple of beta readers (poor souls.)

I've slipped back into an editing phase, and I used to think editing was the poor relation to writing. I think I do 4 times editing to 1 writing if I was to split my time out these days. I'm still aiming to finish soon, but then again, I've been saying that for months now....

Title: I, Singularity
Start Date: January 2012
Genre: Super Hero.
Word Count: 37,124 words.
Status: A work in progress. Re-written the opening scene, as she discovers her powers and wonders if she's losing her mind, has the facts of (super hero) life explained to her by a slightly more experienced hero, and creates her first super hero costume. Just about to write the scene where Our Hero goes on her first flight...um, is it one word (crashlanding) or two words (crash landing)?
