The chronicles word counter!

Woo hoo. First proper full draft finished: 74000 words.

The words The End have been typed.

I have a lot to do; stuff to add in, stuff to tidy, beta feedback to consider and implement. But! Inish Carraig is an entity with a plot, beginning, middle and end!

Oh, and the big excitement for me is that this means I can write something that isn't about Abendau, that I can take a story from nothing to a whole novel... the albatross is flying away.

@HB, just seen yours. Yey!

Finished my edit of The Goddess Project -- from 183,473 to 153,678 in about a month. Woot!

Why can't I add words to my next one at that kind of rate?

Finished scanning in Chapter 2 of Mercenary, that's a colossal 61 pages and 18,000 words, not taking into account a couple of hundred that look like they were lost through the OCR process.

The next task is to reformat the entire chapter which will drop the page count if nothing else.

Not sure when I will get to the editing stage, but just the bits I caught when scanning indicate that this chapter is full of tripe and will probably be rewritten almost in entirety. (If I ever get around to it.)

I can just see Chapter Three now and it looks as though it was typed on a different typewriter, which is not quite as clear as the first two chapters. It'll be interesting to see how the OCR program reacts to that...

On the actual WiP (Still unnamed) I've continued doing littl bits here and there and have managed to reach 2300 words in Chapter 8.

This chapter introduces a new major character, who is decidedly fun to write, but it's hard at the same time...

Culture Shock - Start date May 2012
22/11/2012 – 65,000

I've done a Mouse, I've gone backwards.

I don't often go backwards, but I've stopped to do some editing and have a read through to make sure it's all straight in my mind. So I may go backwards some more. I was expecting to lose more words - I'm zapping and adding as I go.

I've been plodding away reformatting Mercenary. It's amazing how much difference that can make, without even changing anything, just reorganising the layout, it's dropped from 61 to 32 pages. I'm about halfway through.

On the work in progress I've finished chapter 8, word count is now 4,256

With an overall wordcount of 35,756

I know the basic setup of the next three chapters, so it is just getting them down.

Still haven't got a title for the WiP, but the trilogy it would be the start of might be getting something along the lines of Beneath Elysium's Light

Throwing in an update for the word counter:

Name: The Maidenflower Dance
Genre: High Fantasy Romance
Start Date: 12/10/2012
Word Count: 54,568
Comments: Part 1 / 3 finished. Going to review part one and do some editing while I figure out exactly where I'm going with part two. Don't worry, I know the overall plot, just planning out a little more depth for the coming scenes.

Mercenary: Finished reformatting Chapter Two.
Just looking through it, I realise that it can be broken down into smaller chapters, but needs extensive re-writing, a lot more than the first chapter which needs enough. There is a lot more character in this chapter and much of the dialogue makes me cringe (Just from what I read as I was OCR-ing it.)

Scanner Chapter 3, need reformatting (But it's not the monster the previous chapter was)

Untitled WiP
Chapter 9 First draft complete
Words: 1,692
WiP Word Count Total so far: 37,448

5 weeks today until Pratchett closes... very close.

Inish Carraig, I am up to 76000 words so still 4000 or more short, but I know where they're needed. I have 240 or 380 pages pretty well the finished version, barring beta comments. So 140 pages to go, about 25000 words, and these are the scanty ones. It'll be touch and go, but I'll see what I can do. :)

Diana book 3: No words yet but have finally figured out what I want to do with this one (I'm cranking it up a notch from the last two books in the series) and managed today to get a decent outline down on paper. So ready to start work this week...

Diana book 3: 3,058 words. Having fun, lots of drama in this one. Chapter 2 and the main character just escaped a were-wolf pack and messed up big time with his future girlfriend's parents....

Inish Carraig: 79684 (500 needed for Prachett!)

Write through finished, going out to a couple of betas, and into a small drawer until boxing day at which point it's getting its final edit (for now...).

I'll potter at some editing of old stuff for a week or two. :)

Novel: Arrowbane
Genre: Fantasy
Word Count: 51577
Status: Just hit 50 k for nano, now need to try push it up over 100 k and get to the end of the first draft :D

First edit of TBM done! Yay! I've gone through and written down what happens in every chapter, counted up the days, looked at personality and speech patterns and thought patterns, taken out surplus thats and thens... added some 'ands' to some comma splices (I know!) and generally made it a bit better.

TBM now 84,431 words (including the title and my name and address cos it's now in nice shiny MS format).

Second edit - go.

Mercenary - Reformatted Chapter three. I can't remember the last time I saw a Word document with so many red lines on it.

New program to try when I scan chapter four.

The untitled WiP - which I'm now going to refer to as Under Elysium's Light, which is the name of the series I think, rather than a single book.

Word count: 43,844

Completed another chapter, and well into the next a no holds barred fight scene, not had quite so much fun writing in a long time! :D

Under Elysium's Light:

Completed Chapter 10
Word Count: 46,369

Thoughts: Noticing a potential issue, in that there don't seem to be many characters in the WiP at all.
