Up to my neck in first draft edits so the word count is all over the place. I have a lot of work to do. This first round of edits is just to streamline the plot and eradicate head-hopping. Months of work ahead of me *gulp*

'Beaten' Working title. (Sequel to 'Within')
2,710 (I had to get the opening scene out of my head but do not intend on working with this one until 'Within' is closer to being finished).
Need to outline.


Enjoying every minute of it though. Damn, I love writing.

Added 4000 words to Dream today, am half a chapter from the end. Ending is partially written out in notes, though, so will take a break and type it up tomorrow.

Total will be about 43k, a bit short of what I planned but not massively so. And first draft, so may well be expanded (or chopped!) as I edit.

I'm at that point where the story is pretty much finished and I start to wonder if its just a load of rubbish. Ah well, if it turns out to be rubbish, will just have to rethink things.

It gets difficult to view our work objectively, especially after a few round of edits. I often get disillusioned. 'Oh, it's all crap, don't know why I bother' etc. I think it's natural to doubt ourselves, but hopefully it only makes us work harder resulting in much finer work. In theory!

72,525 words. I'm on the last seven chapters, so it should come out around 87-90K.

By the end of this month, hopefully within the next fortnight, it should be finished. I'll still need to go back over a couple of chapters, including expanding the first chapter a little, but that's nothing. Once that's done, it can be filed away, and forgotten.

Okay, I missed the fortnight by a couple of days, not helped by a nasty chest infection (found it difficult to read, write, even watch TV), and an extra chapter which crept in to plug a plot hole. However, I just wrote

THE END.​

Whoo! Three and a half months, now I can relax for a while. Go back and edit, but the first draft is done. 89,116 words. Tea break!

been a while since i've been on here and known my current word count at the same time but am up to....

Status: 40611 words

pretty happy with that as i look back over my earlier posts to see i only started it mid-september... seems much longer ago than that! i was a bit unsure whether there was enough in the story to get to novel length but, after the introduction of a little old lady called Gladys, i'm certain i will get to my absolute minimum of 50 thousand words for the first draft, and pretty confident i will get to my planned 80 thousand...

oh and congratulations abernovo!

Untitled, 2k - Hmmm, this may be a dead end for now, the main WIP has sparked back into life for me so I want to go back and push on with it.

So, three days with no distractions... On 39326 and have edited, whizzy wigged and completed a good, solid draft of part one! Wheeee. Onwards.

Up to 40,500, which isn't much, but I've been deleting some scenes I don't want anymore. Up to chapter sixteen of a planned 35 or so. So, another couple of days and I might be at the halfway point.

And go, Aber! Yay.

I said I would do NaNoWriMo and I hope to do it. Too bad it is now November 3rd and I finally sat down on a computer. At least I had been thinking of what I wanted to do with it.

So I have started a new WIP for this project and for the time being I am pumped for it.

I am currently at 1500 words so only 48500 left.....

I had a hiatus for Worldcon, and for ill health, so things have been slower than normal. (Plus I'm still deleting the odd bit.)

Still, up to 42347, and still a lot of story to go. This will be my longest draft and the book is going to be my longest yet, too, I think.
