The chronicles word counter!

I like to start with the single-word or single-sentence idea and usually free-flow with it for short pieces until the ending suggests itself or else I'll force myself to find an ending to aim for. Often the I'll miss and find a better(??) ending by the time I finish. Equally, I've been known to abandon first chapters/paragraphs when a better start presents itself around paragraph 3 or somewhere.

Now, I suppose, I ought to itemise my progress to date ....

Mrs Dale's Dilemma (stupid title) - 5000 words, nearing completion - I know the end, but not how to get there :).
An artist's assailant regrets the harm he's done her and tries to make amends without admitting responsibility.

The First Shimmer (Sci Fi) - 8000, correcting a confusing ending.
A failed time-travel experiment brings together two people who know they can never remain together once the failure is corrected.

Waiting In Godalming (SF) - 2000, not happy with much of it, apart from the premise.
Two assassins use a dentist's surgery as a refuge and discover that they aren't as in control of their destinies as they once thought.

I Said (Fantasy??? Speculation???) - 1200
From a workshop idea, what would happen if everyone went deaf?

Pockets (As above) - 1500
Another workshop idea, everyone has to keep their hands in their pockets.

While I've typed "The End" on quite a few of these, I don't yet consider them quite finished :)
I'm also thinking of submitting some of my Character Creation Chain stuff as flash fiction somewhere .... I never thought I could do flash fiction before coming here

Do you have any time to eat or sleep? :p

I love your titles, especially 'The Taste of Salt' and 'Pearls and Swine'.

Not much time ;)

Ah, so you're aiming about 10,000 words. I was thinking about 5,000, but it's clear none of mine (I've got four developing; even the one set in Geneva, that I had thought still born has started racing ahead, and is over two thousand words) are going to stop that soon.

See what happens when you build a universe for someone?

Pacific 5,507 words
Sheaf theory 1 4'202 words
Technology 1,607 words
Ecole International 2,004 words (all placemarker titles, that's what I've succeeded in typing into the computer, there's more on notepads and lots more between my ears.

Ecole INternational - the correct name for Geneva's airport?

i wasn't sure how many words i was aiming for at first, but i'm hoping that 10k is the right length for this one. the problem is there's a masiive plot-turn ahead and i ain't all that sure how to tie it all up (hence the questions about emergency escapes!) it seems to sit nicely in two halves though: a build-up followed by some action.
