New GRRM Update on ADWD

Aaaah, he says as the coin drops.

BFS was in a Game of Thrones last night - silver haired guy talking to Eddard Stark

Thank you!

As much as I'd like to take credit for the origin of BFS, I'll pass that on to Aegon the Unworthy... whom I've not seen in here is far too long.

Next GRRM wil be using it in his books:

Thus at the age of XX BFS died after obtaining 7 swordthrusts, 12 knifings, ... .
(Okay so it actually sounds more like Oda in One Piece when WhiteBeard died)
And yes, i read all kinds of things. I am a fan of stories in general.

Wow, i reread that thread and to my eternal surprise i actually participated in it...
Damnit all to hell, i've just blown my own socks off !!!!!

Not in the least by the thread, what a thread that was, i talked about religion...
Ah i'm awesome, am I allowed to say that of myself?
It's true though...

ISN'T
(i have a feeling i should've quit this particular post a long time ago.
BFD, Hah take that.

Not(e) to myself: Stop typing...
Now.. Do... It...
Grrr

You know you're in trouble when you have managed to blow your own socks off.

I told a girl once that she "had such a serious case of the pretties that it done blew the socks right out my boots."

Oddly enough, that line worked.

I'm still not sure how someone with a created nick of "Freakin'" beat out someone named "The Sword of Morning".

One sounds like an all pro point guard, the other a mascot.

That was a seriously fun tourney to run though :)

Just read GRRM latest update.
Gonna be lots of Jon and Tyrion (and Dany) chapters in the next one.
Looking forward to two of these POV. One not so much.

Then again maybe this time around i actually start to like that targaryen wench.

And since finally completing A DANCE WITH DRAGONS some weeks ago, and announcing it here, I have been working on... drum roll, please... A DANCE WITH DRAGONS!

Hands up who else was hoping it said 'The Winds of Winter' :D

I see there will be no Brienne POV. Even though I'm not completely unhappy about that, I would rather like to know what happens to her. And more Jaime and Cersei POVs (though not many). I hope we'll at least know whether Cersei is going to hang by the end of the book? One old and one new Dornish POV. I wonder who the new one will be, though it could be a whole new character.

The post is here by the way for anyone that wants to read it:

Who does George mean by this?.......................

"The next largest chunk o' chapters belongs to an old POV character who has been missing for a couple of books, but now returns to us... rather the worse for wear."

Quentyn Martell?

Davos or Theon.

HOLLY CRAP!!!

OK, so 16 POV's, 4 new ones not counting prologue and epilogue.

Returning:

2 Dornish ones (cannot be Arianne):
Quentyn
Areo Hotah

"Next largest chunk":
Theon

3 Greyjoys (cannot include Aeron Damphair):
Theon
Asha
Victarion

4 new ones:
Quentyn
Barristan

????

Prologue:
Varamyr Six Skins

So, let's count them:
1) Jon
2) Tyrion
2) Dany
4) Theon
5) Asha
6) Victarion
7) Bran
8) Arya
9) Quentyn (new)
10) Areo Hotah

12) Barristan (new)
13) Varamyr Six Skins (new) OR surprise POV as per his hint that the count of 4 new ones does not include Prologue and Epilogue
14) Cersei
15) Jaime
16) Davos

He may not be counting the prologue and epilogue in his 16 count.

You know, when I read this, the first thing that popped into my head was The Imp's loony theory that Ned is still alive!! :D :D

Good work on that summary TK-41! Though, GRRM says: "And there are some new viewpoint characters. Some of them are new CHARACTERS, introduced for the first time in this book."

Then he also says "FOUR new viewpoint characters. And that doesn't even include the Prologue and Epilogue." So, I think there will be at least one or two entirely new folk, which means Varamyr at least is off your list.

Ned's been missing for three books (so far ;)).

And Davos was in ASoS, so that can't be him. The most likely person is Theon, who was a POV character in ACoK and is in somewhat reduced circumstances (as it were ;)).

Characters introduced for the first time? : o
Oh boyyyy

Well, Quentyn is one. Is there another apart from Varamyr (whether he figures in the number of 16 or not?). There has already been much speculation on this.

Some names mentioned are: Young Griff, Jon Connington

I must admit when he said new characters, I took it mean entirely new characters that hadn't been mentioned at all before, like Areo Hotah in Feast for Crows. (At least, I don't believe he had ever been mentioned before AFfC!)

I'd love it if GRRM pulled a sneaky and had Jaqen H'ghar in a new guise as one of his "new" characters. Seriously doubt that would happen, but it would be fun! :D

Areo Hotah is in the House Martell appendix of AGoT, nine years before he appeared in an actual novel :)

For the count, the prologue and epilogue are not part of the 16. So there's one new POV character whose identity remains unknown.
