New GRRM Update on ADWD

nice i like long books but it I don't think it will be released in 2010 maybe 2011 GRRM posted on his blog about 2 weeks ago he still has 38 POV chapters to finish

Boaz ..

Robin Hobb is great 2nd best to GRRM I think anyway the farseer series blew me away wasn't expecting it to be that good especially the liveship trader it sounded so boring but it was great

I liked the idea of following a hero that gets no credit

This was a joke ;) There aren't even 38 POV characters in the whole series to date.

I'm not sure how many chapters he has to polish off beyond he four he has for the Meereenese Knot, but not too many more beyond that.

On GRRM's blog, he says he was to read a chapter from ADWD at Valleycon in Fargo this past weekend. Anyone know which one???

Yeah, it's a Brienne chapter. On Stoneheart's orders, Lem tosses her into a woodchipper.

whiskey, long time, no see. I'm drinking Kentucky Bourbon at this very moment... Evan Williams... Jim Beam is now beyond my budget.

I've been so busy that I've not finished Assassin's Apprentice yet... only halfway through. Her portrait of her world is very small so far... either she does not need to bonkers creating languages and people or else she may do so in the future. Yet, her characters are excellent. When I was an adolescent, I loved plot driven stories... John Carter, Conan, Shannara. Now, I like character driven stories.

Boaz, can you give some more spoilerinfo on that Brienne chapter?

I heard that Brienne says a word that proves to unCat that she is really Eddard in disguise** and that it was Syrio, the faceless man, who stood in for Ned at the execution....

** - Ned has been under a spell, so even he did not know who he was until that moment. (So far, it's GRRM's most audacious con.)

Where you trying to be funny, and failed to do so? Or has GRRM lost it's mind?
Reaction to post below this one:
I hereby nominate you for the lamest joker of the month award.

Your reaction is why GRRM normally keeps this sort of revelation to close to his jest.

Ha! Boaz, that was good. I now have visions of red snow and a woodchipper on the shore of a lake outside Fargo, North Dakota.

Seriously, I found the answer on that other board:

READY FOR THIS....SPOILERS BIG TIME:

It is a Quentyn POV titled The Merchant's Man. He is in Volantis looking for a ship to take him to Dany. Every ship he tries they refuse as since she has closed the fighting pits and outlawed slavery, there is no reason anymore to go there. He tries some 100 ships. His party is experiencing major strife and some have died during a pirate attack, including Maester Kendry who knows the free cities and slave cities very well so it was a blow to their mission. He is worried that Tywin's assassins will meet his new bride before he does. He finally finds a shady captain that agrees to take him there. The ships reeks from the slaves on it. On his way back to the inn, he meets a group of sellswords. He is worried that every sword that can be bought that he would bring with him is another threat to Dany. They return to the lodgings and the one they have nicknamed "the big man" says he has an idea to get to dany that doesn't include The Demon Road (the other Valyrian roads are known as The Dragon Roads, but there is something darker about the demon road). He says its not honorable but it will be faster than travelling the Demon Road. The chapter ends.

Quentyn is only 18 but very serious and honourable (sounds familiar?). Seems like he has not had much luck with women. A geek perhaps! He dreams of Dany as being the most beautiful woman in the world but he knows that she will not love him and only needs Dorne. The title comes from their ruse of trying to pass as merchants. He refuses suggestions to return to Dorne in failure. He doesn't even want to stop with his company to watch a comedy show with two dwarves. In the chapter, he recalls being summoned to the water garden and his father giving him his orders. He is described as having brown hair and a large jaw and he laments his not so good looks. It seems the sellswords in the chapter were trying to recruit Quentyn. There is mention of The Golden Company. Volantis is described as having a huge harbour that could swallow all the islands of Braavos and a common mode of transport are carts pulled by small elephants and this is a status symbol. Slaves are marked by a tattoo on their faces. They speak a bastardized Valyrian.

In a question and answer, he said he was moving some Arya chapters to the next book. But three and written and two will be in ADWD. THIS IS THE BIG NEWS: There are two Cersei chapters in ADWD!!!!!!!! Don't think that this is the mistery one because he said it would not be revealed ahead of publication. There is apparently also Sansa chapter written that he has moved to Winds of Winter.

It seems Mel may only end up with one chapter. This should resolve the debate of wether she is a misguided zelot, a fraud, or just pure evil. Davos has three chapters.

He said that Winds of Winter will once again have all POV's but he added "I need to kill some ******* characters!"

the Brienne chapter was a joke...didn't notice it all.... hmmz.....walks off and mumbles it is not like i know what a woodchipper is too begin with, i'm dutch for christ's sake.... seriously pissed...mostly at myself for not noticing....must eat my own words now...hmmz

Obviously, I failed you, Kiwi. But Ursa's post made my bowels quiver for about three seconds...

I heard that Brienne says a word that proves to unCat that she is really Eddard in disguise** and that it was Syrio, the faceless man, who stood in for Ned at the execution....

"Eddard??? Syrio??? Wait!!! Oh, it's a joke... Whew!"

Ned has been under a spell, so even he did not know who he was until that moment. (So far, it's GRRM's most audacious con.)
Speaking of Cons... GRRM announced today on his Not A Blog that he's not coming to Denver for MileHiCon this weekend. Boo Hoo... I was kinda hoping I could hear a reading... Ah... such is life. But for those of you in and near London, GRRM will be there in November.

GRRM has made seven different posts on his Not A Blog over the last two days. Included are pics of actors cast as Bran, Benjen, Illyrio, Ros (a new character, she'll be Tyrion's <cough> friend <ahem>), and Drogo.

As GRRM posted this:
However, there will be some cool news announced for the first time at MileHiCon, so if you should happen to be in Denver, keep your ears peeled, and you can be one of the first to know.
can we expect you to let us know what this is as soon as possible?

* Hopes it's at least some vague reference to progress on ADWD, but seriously doubts it. *

Okay, you got me. I did not even know he was coming here... BUT (I like big buts) if I had, I'd have made plans to attend the con. I've already got work this weekend, coaching, and parties every night (stop sniggering behind my back, I really do have a life)... plus I must finish my big huge prop sword before Halloween.

Sir Boazalot for Halloween?

Highlight for potential spoilers near the bottom.

Sir Boazalot for Halloween?
I'm down to 235 lbs., but there's still alot of Boaz.

Just don't make it seem like your compensating for anything.
Sheesh! Did I really post that? I'm not even drinking today... I need an editor.

Seriously, folks, no thoughts on the latest spoiler chapter reading I posted above?
Seriously? Okay, I think Loras is also on his way to Dany. And since Quentyn has had no luck with the ladies... he and Loras might successfully become Dany's other two heads of the Dragon... I mean they'd never dump her for another woman.
