Casting news from the TV series

Well, I think that they'll drop a lot of characters. Let it be Bran, fingers crossed!

I certainly don't. There is not a doubt in my mind that Bran's story is going to be one of the most important in the end. No one knows it because they think he is dead but he is actually the Lord of Winterfell right now and something tells me he is going to survive the series. The very first proper POV character introduced to us was Bran. Perhaps he'll be the last.

I heard those playing Jaime and Loras have been trimmed and fired, respectively.

I don't know. Alan Rickman can bring my groceries home. What a voice.

Is Naveen Andrews available for a quick role--Drogo?

Alan Rickman would make a great Stannis.
Alan Rickman would make a great Cersei. Seriously, Rickman is great in every role I've ever seen him. He could play Stannis, Tywin, Varys, Barristan, Illyrio, Balon, Kevan, Mace, Doran, Victarion, Euron, Aeron, Jorah, Jeor, Littlefinger, or even Maester Aemon and do all of them justice.

Maybe Alan Rickman would do a good Roose Bolton! Shudder.

I suppose Naveen is not, umm what's the word, rugged(?) enough, for Drogo? He does play a pretty tough guy on Lost, but yeah, there is something wrong.

They can "fatten" people up for movies, if they want to!

We will know, soon enough, who they picked. Dinklage down, 98 characters to go.

I disagree, Eulalia. Alan Rickman's voice is good for sounding loud, not for whispers. What about Kevin Spacey as Roose Bolton? :D He was awesome in Se7en as the soft-spoken psychopath. And let's be frank, Roose isn't much different from John Doe, now is he?

Kevin Spacey would be brilliant!

I refuse to believe that Alan Rickman can't whisper.:)

I think Peter Stormare (Satan in "Constantine". also in Prison Break.) would be a great Roose. He can be pale, has those eyes, and can whisper with the best of 'em.

Hmm. That's a toughie. I am sure Spacey could carry Roose home, but Stormare is simply an awesome actor. Honestly, I'd be happy with either of them.

Not to be a killjoy but there's another thread for casting suggestions. I started this one to put the actual casting news that has already happened on the series. Unfortunately, after Peter Dinklage's casting nothing else has happened, but apparently some announcements are forthcoming in the next few weeks.

Some solid news that can be discussed.

This youngster is auditioning for the role of Joffrey. That pictures a few years old now, but he's got that shifty look Joffrey needs.

This guy is up for the role of Khal Drogo and got a call back. He got some unflattering comments on the Winter is Coming blog so stormed on and started laying some attitude down. Have to say I'm not sure if he's got the right look for Drogo (now Grey Worm or maybe Strong Belwas...) but he's certainly got the attitude for him.

This was a note sent out to several casting agencies in Belfast:

The ages there have changed a little from the script sent out last year, most notably in that Theon is too young considering what he does in Season 2 and Jon is too old. He needs to be similar in age to Robb and Dany or some of the timeline stuff needs to be rewritten. Unless of course they just don't bother mentioning the ages, which could work as well.

because her character is in sex scenes no doubt... and she may have to appear at least partially naked...

Duhhh!!!!!!! ;)

Jon is a little old but they likely will not mention any ages.

Notice no mention of Rickon. Could it be that they already casted him?

Seeing as how the books make mention of how Jon is slender and Robb is tall and muscular I would have thought the casting ages would be the other way around. Jon 16, Robb 18-20...
