Well, one vote seems to have a good lead, though it's still open for a few days yet. Though with thirty-three votes counted, we'd would seem to have accounted for almost all participants.

But not for all of the potential voters. Do we even know that all those who have voted on the number of votes have written stories?

(Nice try, though.)

True, but I'm thinking the majority of folks reading this thread and thus voting will have participated. With thirty-five (or more?) stories, the ratio must be fairly stacked on the side of participants. Eight or ten to one at worst, I reckon.

Yeah, looks like the Ones will have it. We Twos put up a good fight, but after keeping it level til 13 each, the Ones have gone on a 7-1 spree.

By the way, will the poll still be conducted on that PollDaddy site? We could just conduct it here, right? Just like with this one. Or is there a limit on the number of options?

We still have a (small) chance. There are forty entries, and there may be a few non-writers voting on the number of votes.

Our polls here seem to offer a maximum of ten options, so voting on the stories themselves will have to be conducted off-site.

Help may be at hand. There are two possible ways to fix ... er ... subtly adjust the current vote (i.e. the one in this thread):
  1. Suggest that the votes of those who want two votes should count double.
  2. Suggests that yes, they do get two votes, but the two must be for different options. ;):)

In case anyone did not notice the top of the page, the poll on the poll is closed. Each one of us will have one vote to bestow in the final voting.

Those of us who voted for two will, I know, be gracious in defeat

And for anyone who has not yet entered a story but wishes to do so, you have less than two days.

I'm pissed!
*growls*

Very well then, I shall be gracious in defeat.

Cul, how soon after the contest closes do you think the poll will be ready to go and we can cast our skimpy single votes?

(Meanwhile, I have changed the name of this thread, yet again, to reflect the fact that this poll is closed.)

I actually spent some time tonight putting it together, seeing as how I had a spare few minutes and I figured it'd take some time. So it's pretty much ready to go - I'll just need to add any last minute entrants to the list.

Oooooh does that mean you could arrange for a few extra ballot stuffing votes before we all start - Or you could just trickle them in during the vote. There must be dozens of dormant members that could suddenly take an interest and cast there six penneth in in amongst the pigeons.

Munchausens vote by proxy

I, too (but not two) shall be gracious, despite those parsimonious one-voters robbing us of our legitimate second choice, and if the result is a draw we shall not say "We told you so" and we shall not say it very, very loudly.

Good, because if you weren't to not say it, I would have to point out that only having one vote doesn't make a draw more likely, it's the reverse -- having two votes each would make a draw more likely, because there would always be an even number of votes cast.

Trust an accountant to try and baffle us with statistics.

*refrains from pointing out that not every person with two votes would necessarily cast both, so invalidating the entire premise...*

A fabulous story from Hilarious Joke just appeared as an almost last minute entrant.

Oh, excellent. I expect to be poised and at the ready to close the contest at the fatal moment* tomorrow, but it's up to you to start the voting.

*12:00 GMT, 5:00 PST for me, and I have no idea what hour of the next day for you.
