Well, whatever happens, I think this was an excellent thread/idea.
I immediately took my spontaneous 75-worder and re-hacked into something longer and I'm well pleased with it, and it would never have come out at all if not for this fine cyber-hangout. So I win no matter what happens.:D:D

I think I'll be adding a few words to my own story, too, and try submitting it somewhere.

Mr. Culhwch, your honor, sir, will you be providing the URL for the polling in this thread, or in the Challenge thread, or both?

* Prepares himself to read through all the stories again. *

Thank goodness they're all 75-words-or-less.

I have to say that this has been a splendid thread, well not this one, the one with the actual stories in. What a fantabulous idea it was to create such a thread. I have almost certainly decided on who I shall vote for, but I look forward to re-reading all the entries (except my own, I will cringe at that one).
I'm looking forward to next month's challenge already. :)

I'm sure after a few months of these you could have a splendid book of very short stories.

three cheers for the thread!

I'm sure after a few months of these you could have a splendid book of very short stories.

At 75 words a story, it would probably take more than a few months (or it would be a very short book of very short stories -- not in appropriate).

I've set my time stamps to GMT, to make sure I bring it to a close at the right time. Just to keep things fair.

The Challenge is over -- I've already announced that in the other thread.

Please remember that voting is not limited to -- or required of -- those who have entered a story. And also remember to read all the latest entries before making your decisions, if you haven't read them already.

As for the number of votes we can each cast -- a paltry one! -- I should remind each of you who wanted it that way that those of us who wanted two might have voted for your story as our second vote.

And -- while still remaining gracious in defeat -- I might add that now we probably won't ... so there!

(If we knew for sure who you all were.)

I shall now retire to agonize over my own decision.

This post may seem strangely familiar...

The rules for the voting are as follows:

***Any member of the Chrons may cast a vote, even if they did not enter a story for the challenge***

*Please do not vote for yourself*
*You may only cast one vote*
*The poll will end at 11:59 pm on Friday, April 30th 2010 (GMT)*

The winner will decide the challenge theme for May!

Good Luck Everyone!!!

Vote!

Meanwhile, I am wondering whether we should toss a few extra words into the next challenge, or keep it at 75 since we were able to draw so many responses at that number. The choices I am thinking of are 75 (again) or 90. 100 words would be too obvious, and we wouldn't want that.

Why not have a certain number of standards, and let the person choosing the next theme pick one? Maybe 60, 75 or 90? Sneak in 100, maybe, even if it is obvious?

I like letting the person who chooses the theme decide, but I think 60 is too little, and 100 ... still too obvious!

75, 85, 95 sounds better to me. The word counts on writing contests and competitions always end in zeros. I say let us keep our individuality, and eschew any number ending in 00.

Well, the voting is going well so far, nine counted already. I'm going to give them all another read over before I pull the lever. There was one that had my vote the entire time, but a couple of late ones are challenging. Have to mull it over.

Can't wait for the results. :D It's silly, really... if I get this excited over a challenge like this, how will I feel if I ever try to get published? :p

There was one that had my vote the entire time, but a couple of late ones are challenging. Have to mull it over.

There were two that had my vote(s) almost the entire time, then I finally made up my mind on the one I would pick if I had to choose between them ... and along came another to throw me back into indecision once more.

But it is exciting. I have several favorites, and if any one of them wins I will be thrilled.

Am I the only one who found voting easy? Maybe I'm just impulsive, but I like the one-vote system - you only have to click once, and that's it done and dusted.
