re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

Of course it's not one of your best qualities, Parson-I thought a man of God was supposed to be too honest to cheat?

I know I am, at least. Even if I DO seem atheist. *shrugs* Well, my time away from here has proven a frustration in that I still have to look through all these stories to pick a favorite. :p And I hate picking on anything.

Brilliant, Mouse! To hide another chunk of text in white-on-white under the "Bloody genius", very clever.

Thing is, when I chanted the phrase as instructed, the world outside went all purple and swirly and howly. Was that meant to happen?

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

Woo I got Mouse's hidden thing too!

I guess I also cheated (maybe, possibly), but in my defence, I was trying to cheat.

HB: Are you sure you've not been sniffing the Gorgonzola?

I can let you have your GA local branch number.

The first step is to admit you have a problem.

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

Me too!

And I haven't had any success finding anything that wasn't immediately obvious in Judge's, either. Guess I should hang up my puzzle-solving mantle this month.

I can't spot the Judge's either. :)

There's nothing hidden - I suspect Mouse dropped that in to get folks to read it over and over and imprint it on minds. Crafty little devil...

Now see, I wish I had thought of that!

Oh, wait ... I had to cheat, but I now know the hidden thing. Very elegant. Good job, Mouse!

Ta! :D

But alas! Mouse just smiles at me and says, "No, that's not it!" Now that someone has actually gotten it I'm terribly downcast.

:)

You did that?! I did wonder if someone read it wrong!

Woo I got Mouse's hidden thing too!

Yay!

We have to cheat to find it?

I've tried acronyms, acrostics, anagrams, codes... and now googling...

Parson, you and me both are just too honest. Oh, and Cul.

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

'Cheating' might be a bit misleading. I just had some technological assistance.

And Judge...all I can say is, persist! It's so tempting to give hints but I'll leave that up to Mouse.

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

Persist I shall. Meanwhile, the blackmail route does seem attractive.

TDZ - mine is in the title. Both titles. Much easier to get than Mouse's.

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

I've managed - eventually - to work out the hidden meaning on both Mouse's and TJ's posts.

(I think: TJ's mention of both titles suggests I'm still missing something, unless "con: sequences" is a description of the method of hiding.)

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

I gave an alternative title when I commented on how hard it had been to get one, back in post 609 on here. It's not very good, so don't get excited.

As for Mouse's, Ursa, did you cheat, rely on technological assistance or otherwise approach it in a non-literary way? Because I'm still stuck on looking at words and letters and I've got the feeling I'm barking up the wrong tree.

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

I'm not sure that there is a literary way to work Mouse's out.

(Well, you could count pencil and paper (or have them down) as literary tools.)

* Cue irritating "music". *

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

*GROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNN*

Well done, Mouse -- that was really pretty clever!

(And thanks Ursa!)

"Literary Opportunism -- The Ripping-off Of Yeats"
Would the solution indicate what Marina's first words would be if she were to be granted the gift of speech?

(Clue: Neither Mantra nor Manta.)

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

Indeed! Whether phones would be used, though, I'm not sure. But if she ever did speak it would make a right tempest in a tea pot.

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

Cue the cheesy inspirational music!

No, I wouldn't be able to run at any speed. :p I have now come across my decision on who to vote for. It is a first-page story, but as with other times, I will reveal not about who I am casting my bones for. :D

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

Can we assume you're set up for fifteen posts per page, Karn?

* Says someone on page two even with 30 posts per page. :( *

By the way, don't rule out someone posting a story even more to your liking before the deadline.

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

Ooh, I doubt that's going to happen, Ursa. I'm a rather stubborn mule when I make my mind up about something. :D

As for your other comment, well....I shall deign not to answer that. :D

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

Uh oh, we've passed the magic number!

Is the universe now meaningless?
