I'd be happy with half of that...

A go-stick and a mention in Harebrain's shorts?

This is getting decidedly silly.

How about, as a show of good faith, you release any words requiring medical attention. Then my superiors might be more inclined to supply you with your demands.

yeah, like: ill, sick, unwell, diseased, ailing... now there's only 70 words left inside!

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

At least release the prepositions. They're so small! What'd they ever do to you, besides constantly tell you what to do and where to do it, never giving you breathing space or a right to your own life, slowly stripping you of the last shreds of your humanity until you're little more than a dried-out husk of a man, a man with needs, a man who doesn't want his verbs complemented or his nouns modified, dammit! Maybe you liked your nouns the way they were! They weren't pretty, but they served a function! Then in march these uppity prepositions who think they own syntax, structuring and restructuring perfectly good sentences like it was nobody's business until you're so full of rage that you lash out at any random word that gets in your way...

What'd they ever do to you, besides that?

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

I have bad news. I now have one hundred and fifty words. I'm sorry, I just couldn't help myself. I have an illness...

In my defense, though, they aren't one hundred and fifty unique words. More like one hundred. One-twenty, tops. I've pressed some into double-, triple-, and even quadruple-duty. Actually, I don't know if that does make it better...

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

150??! This could go on well into August.

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

What manner of man is this... this Culwch.

Now He's cloning them

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

Ahem, TEIN, I see you've made an appearance, or should I say disguise, in the latest entry into the challenge. It is an Hilarious Joke.

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

As I've been told that I write, sometimes, like a certain Wallace, I can only cry: "FREEDOM!"

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

A dwindling deadline, an expectant audience and a hostage negotiation process. Keep your nerve Cul - the Stockholm syndrome will kick in soon!

I clearly underestimated the severity of these Writing Challenges :D.

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

But only 75 words need Cul'ing to get the tale within the limit (if there are 150 of them now).

I never said there wouldn't be casualties...:p

I'm off to make an omelette. Now where are those eggs?

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

If Wallace ,shouldnt that cry be "CHEESE!"?

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

Perhaps, but I'm not known for my cheesy comments.

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

I see Twitter are pushing "drabbles", a similar theory if less exacting, with a hundred words.

One hundred words? How pathetic. How feeble. As we all know, only the intellectually weak require as many words as that to tell a story.

Although there have been months where I felt my story would be just perfect if only I had another ten ...

digs, your plea for the release of the prepositions has touched my heart. (And caused quite a bit of unseemly giggling.)

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

Yes sorry about that. My keyboard is skipping characters - probably from all the dead skin, rat dropping and other dross that's building up around me. I've mentioned it to the management but they gave me short shrift. I've begged for a new chair but only the 7000+ guys get those apparently

Nevertheless we need to begin discussing the release of your hostages.

We haven't (in the short...etc) got time to dilly dally.

They deserve a life with their family and friends, not an ignoble death at the end of your mighty pen.

You've heard our terms I can throw in a spittoon (full) and an old bag of "Wotsits".

Now come on let them go.
