Whom would you choose to be? SPOILERS

*spoiler* he gets to be with a hot redhead (sadly dies, but who knows maybe he'll get himself a new one *wink wink*)/QUOTE]

Wasn't Ygritte kind of plain looking with crooked teeth?
Kissed by fire, yes. Kissed with looks, I'm not so sure...
Heeeey...it was that...cute kind of crooked teeth!

And besides she had big boobs...i think? No?

Doh!!! Big Bear, I must confess that I'm probably the most inobservant person I've ever known.

You know it's the holidays now... and I tend to end up watching movies with family and friends... favorite movies. Last night I watched The Princess Bride with my niece and nephew... it was their first time. It was a lot of fun. Anyway, I was thinking of other faves... and I was desiring to see A Fish Called Wanda again. I love that movie. Palin, Kline, Cleese and Curtis just k-k-k-kill each others c-c-c-cultures. I dunno the actress that plays Cleese's wife, but she was awesome... "Mr. Manfredjendensen" and "You can stick this marriage right in your bottom."

But I'd still choose to be Barristan Freaking Selmy.

Edit: It's good to be the king.

dg, except for Renly's love of rainbows (allegedly), I'd like to be Renly, too. He's hilarious. He's adored by the crowds. And he dresses impeccably.
Maria Aitkin is her name. Her wiki link in case you want to learn more about her.

IMO, A Fish Called Wanda (AFCW looks like a jumbled ASOIAF title) is one of the 50 great movies of all time. It certainly up there with the best comedies ever produced. The scene with the french fries was pee in your pants laugh out loud funny

I'd quite like to be Renly, he's awesome. He's about the only one who smiles in that whole world, never mind laughs, and I just can't be doing with not doing either. Plus he's whimsical and facetious and knows how to party, even when he's apparently marching to war.

Arya would be cool just personality and adventure-wise, but she's also had it pretty rough at times. She seems to be learning some awesome stuff and I love all the stuff she learnt from Spiro, and her dedication to it all -- the standing still, the balacing, the dancing with needle.

Other than that, Margaery's grandmother, The Queen of Thorns (sorry, forgot her real name), just 'cos she's a crotchety old woman who says want she wants and meddles well.

Sorry mate, you're clutching at straws here. And I'm going to cop some flak no doubt, but Ygritte wasnt too flash. Apart from the red hair. Jon may have come to like her crooked teeth, but crooked they are. And big boobies? I cant remember mention of Jon getting more than a handful. Don't get me wrong, I'd forsake my vows, but your wanting Ygritte to be a Nicole Kidman. She's plain, ordinary, and dead....:D

Well as far as Jon is concerned... they are the only ones he's ever had. Sooooo, they were big to him.

Speaking of movies, Witness has the best line on boobs...... The old Amish man gets Harrison Ford up before dawn to milk the cows. After repeatedly showing Ford how to vigorously milk and watching Ford daintily pull on the cow's udder, the old man shouts in exasperation, "What's the matter? Have you never had your hand on a teat before?" To which Ford responds, "Not one this big." And this draws guffaws of hilarity from the old man.

I wondered whether in the next book there would be a POV from Osha or something. Or maybe the book after next, since her, Rickon and Shaggydog (gotta love him) seemingly vanished. I dunno how many [fictional] years the rest of the books are going to cover. But it seems to me Rickon would be a good fighter, though maybe not as good a ruler as Robb was(not that he was ever amazing)
I don't know much about him but Shaggydog is quick to jump in to attack, and aren't the wolves slightly similar to their "owners" ?

It's an interesting point. Are the direwolves like their owners- each owner got the wolf that suited them best somehow, or would all the wolves act the same if thier owners were changed?. Would Ghost be totally out of control if Rickon owned him, and Summer well behaved if he was with Jon?

I don't think we'll get an early answer to that one. The pack will need to be reunited before we MIGHT find out.

All except Grey Wind and Lady, sadly. I feel awful for Sansa, because she lost her wolf so soon after she received it, yet already she loved her as her best friend.

Plus I wondered about whether, if the 'Stark Pack' were to reunite could perhaps the Starks have their own major pack of wolves/direwolves? Arya dreams of Nymeria, and she leads a pack, though I'm still unsure whether it's a dream of Nymeria with Grey Wind and Summer etc. or actually real with other wolves, but if it were the latter then I'm pretty sure Nymeria and the others could keep them from eating the Starks and their allies.
Throughout the books it has been mentioned that there have been more packs growing bolder and more dense.. It just made me wonder is all..

I always thought that the death of Lady was an obvious bit of foreshadowing by GRRM (given the obvious parallel to the Stark children), but alas, four books later, and not a hint that the death of Lady has anything to do with Sansa. Arya and Nymeria seem to be living mirror-image lives (going wild, etc.), and all of us must secretly be longing for a reunion, and we know virtually nothing about Summer and Shaggydog (best name of the lot, imo).

The foreshadowing of the dead direwolf and the stag was brought to fruition almost immediately (except that the "wolf" was killed by the "lion", through Ser Ilyn Payne), hence my belief that Lady's death did not bode well for Sansa, however, not so with the pups.

Perhaps it means that Sansa will somehow cease being a Stark?

I guess this, along with the rest, will be revealed in time.

Yeah I thought Sansa would bite the dust too, after Lady was killed (and once I'd understood how brutal GRRM is with his characters), but just assumed I was completely wrong when she was still going strong 4 books later. I like the idea that she is no longer a Stark though, but I'm still inclined to stick my neck out and say she won't survive the series. (And if I'm completely wrong, ah well, it'll be about 15 years before the final book is out and no-one will remember) :D

i think in many ways Sansa HAS ceased being a Stark. However, one of the defining characteristics of the Starks is their determination. Sansa seemed to lack it, but now we see just how determined she is becoming. Especially with her realisation that she will need to play the Game to survive at all.
Lady's death i also thought was foreshadowing her death, but i think in many ways it reflected/echoed the original omen of the Dire Wolf death in the snow with an antler lodged in its throat at the very beginning.
I have the suspicion that Sansa may be the ONLY Stark to survive the series at all. Queen in the North perhaps. Or Lady Stark in her own right.

Sansa may be growing into a role, but I'd say she was never a Stark. She's a Tully.

And I don't think Lady's death was necessarily a foreshadowing of Sansa's own demise. I agree with Devilsgrin above that it may have been the first manifestation of the real foreshadowing of the antler-skewed direwolf, which I take to mean the devastation of House Stark - and which has all but run it's course at this point.

interesting No One... she may have started out as a Tully... but she's going to realise her inner Stark as she develops.

A couple of posters have now made YADL's list, just an FYI.

I'd be Ghost.

Petyr Baelish.

He gets revenge on the guy that humiliated him (Ned), got some payback on the woman who jilted him (Catelyn via Sansa/Ned), plays the game with the best and spins everything he touches into riches, managed to dance between Renly/Tyrells and Lannisters without a scratch so he was guaranteed to end up a winner, and has now secured himself a seat of real power atop the Eyrie. The only downside to his life is having to deal with that whiny brat son. And he's got an intriguing pupil in Sansa that reminds me of the relationship between Leon and Matilda in the Professional... so even if he bites it, I suspect he will go out on top knowing it happened by destroying the last remains of the Stark house's honor.

Kind of makes me think I should seek help... I can carry quite a grudge it seems.

I'll go Gendry. Young, skilled, not in any immediate danger (iirc) and no real responsibility. Plus I have a feeling he'll be fine.

I'd go as Lord Selwyn, The Evening Star. Brienne's father, legend in his own right, very probably descended from Ser Duncan the Tall and Tanselle Too-Tall. See here.

Far out of danger, has money to buy his daughter's freedom. What's not to like?

And if we count Hedge Knight, I'd like to be Brynden Rivers.
*sings* "How many eyes does Bloodraven have? Thousand eyes and one!"

Has song about him, "Thousand eyes and one." The most badass named song, besides "Seven swords for seven sons." How cool is that?

Ygritte Anti-Defamation League

We, and by we I mean I, take ourselves very seriously.
Now I remember :) That's from a while ago.

Although she wasn't depicted as a great beauty, I imagined Ygritte as being smoking hot aand very sex. It's not all about great teeth and a perfect nose :D
