Whom would you choose to be? SPOILERS

Well, there are a lot of intriguing characters in the books, but few of them are likeable. As a man going on 40 I can't identify myself with Arya. Besides her, the only likeable characters are Tyrion, Robb and Jon Snow, but I really wouldn't enjoy being a dwarf. Robb was a fool and Jon Snow is boring imho. So I say: I'd rather NOT be a character in the books. But if I have to choose, I say Jon Snow.

A dwarf, a fool, and a bore walked into a bar....
The bore ordered a drink, the bartender asked "where would you like it?" the bore said "put it on my tusk"

wait

wrong bore

wrong joke

that should have been a duck with the bartender asking how he would pay for the drink and the duck saying "put it on my bill"

Oh well

I'm not full bore. I'm only half bore... on my father's side.

Wiggs, I'm thrilled the Pack won. Of course, they continue to add to their total championships, leading my Bears, but I'm all about the smallest market team winning. I hate the Yankees, BoSox, and Cowboys. I love cheering against Goliath. I love watching the multitude of owners in Green Bay winning.

Anyone who's ever been to a game at Lambeau would be a fool to call us David :)

Even Bears fans will grudgingly admit it a singularly wonderful experience.

Although parking for $15 in peoples lawns and walking a couple blocks through suburbs to the stadium is probably a unique experience for an NFL game.

And I have no way to tie that in to ASoIaF, so I'm officially off topic.

I feel like James Dean.

All the people I would want to be have had horrible things happen to them...so then I started looking through the history notes for people who led long, happy lives, and I can't really find any. So I suppose I'd most like to be Loras, but hopefully my face doesn't get boiled off.

TSW - surely if you're looking for a long (and fruitful) life, then your only real option is Walder Frey?

Sure, you might be looking at an unpleasant conclusion, but still...

I would like to be any of the guests at Joffreys wedding. Oh what joy watching the life run out of him.

Just discovered this thread( while sitting here trying to distract myself from a badly sunburned face, SPF 50 my behind!) anyway had to get in on it.

ARYA, ARYA, ARYA!

She is smart, brave, independent and able to adapt to whatever is put upon her. Yes she is young (in years anyway) and may have a short life, but what a life it will be! She has adapted and survived through multiply things that most likely would have been the death of any of her siblings (except maybe Jon.)

We already know she is a warg. I have no doubt she will become a Faceless Man (women in this case). When she and Nymeria reunite (and they will!) the world better watch out, cause she's also an angry little thing!

Anyway that's my 2 cents! Now where's that aloe vera!

I'm in the process of rereading AGoT and have seen two descriptions of Renly:
  • He's the "handsomest man Sansa had ever set eyes upon; tall and powerfully made, with jet black hair that fell to his shoulders...."
  • Also, Renly "had grown into a man so like his brother that Ned found it disconcerting. Whenever he saw him, it was as if the years had slipped away and Robert stood before him, fresh from his victory on the Trident."
I'm not sure I can fully accept a description from someone besotted with Joffery; Ned, though, should be more reliable. Does Renly look like a young, thin, Mark Addy? (Not that Mark Addy is the 6'6" Robert we read of in the books; that would make him the same height as the actor playing the Hound. I suppose, as with the ages, heights have been altered to keep the proportions, allowing them to cast someone less than 8' tall as the Mountain.)

I think the age difference between the actors cast as Robert and Renly is a little too much. TV Robert looks almost old enough to be Renly's father, rather than older brother. I don't believe the difference in the books was anywhere near as large (though I can't remember exactly).

I'm sure all us ladies would agree on the following:

1) Book Renly is gorgeous and we all love him
2) TV Renly is nowhere near as attractive as he should be

Mouse, Needle - any disagreement?

Even though I'm not a lady I totally agree :D

i'm sure its mentioned in book - in GoT - that Renly is around 22, whilst Robert is in his LATE 30s... A big enough gap to make it look like Renly could be his son. Stannis is about 4 years younger than Robert iirc

And yeah, Gethin Anthony isn't anywhere near good looking enough to be Renly.

I agree I expected Renly to be a medieval poster boy - dark, tall, chisel jawed and pretty as hell lol

I think I'd like to be Arya cos that girl is going to be a kick ass assassin out for revenge :) plus she has a wolf who has gathered a huge pack and when they reunite they will be murder lol

Ah, thanks for that Devilsgrin. I had thought the age difference was about 10 or 12 years, but obviously it's way more than that. And I suppose Robert's lifestyle might age him a little too.

And I'm glad to see Renly has his fans amongst the guys too! :D
