What about links to pictures and websites?

(There's plenty of material on the web about "bavarian" villages in the western USA, for instance. And Frank Leslie, the gunfighter, for that matter.)

Hey, just dropping in to say thanks to all for the kind words about my story. It is greatly appreciated. Sometimes I feel I'll have to abandon my preferred simplistic writing style in order to gain attention, both here and in the larger world.

Now it's beginning to look like an inordinately long time between stories. TEIN might be right after all.

Scary to think that his predictions might be starting to come true.

I think I'll go off somewhere and repent for a while.

a hero of long standing and the fair , goblin Princess were unlikely companions on the

They would meet many

creatures, both friend and foe, as they battled and fought their way to defeat the Dark Lord. To cheer them on there long journey they hummed a little ditty taught to them long ago

I assume TEIN's new story is a sequel, by the name of Avatar V.

Sixty-nine words, Boneman, and seventy if you add the missing one, road. (Or, on J Riff's reckoning, 5070 words.)

Oh and I hate to be picky, but where's the map? ;):)

Excellent! So the story only exceeds the limit by a tiny 5995 words. :)

Well, I've posted mine. A rather weak effort this month, inspired in part by the stories behind the two versions of the song that I know.

At least it's over, and I can focus on everyone else's brilliance this month - and I have to say there are some shining stars here!

Have enjoyed catching up on this thread too - some creative genius being shown here too. Mayhap the start of a challenge to write a story using 5 (or more?) randomly selected avatars from around the site . . . mmmmm :p:D

Wow!

*Where has everybody gone??*

I know my story is bad, but complete silence on this thread for over 24 hrs is scary - did I curse it????

Although I might be posting to myself (can almost hear an echo in here . . .) I'm liking the entries from Crys and Goldenapples - nice!

*dares to wonder, rather cheesily, 'Is there anybody out there . . .?'*

We're still here SF, we're just being very, very quiet....

To be honest It's been really quiet for about a week now....

I was thinking the other day: given how much the standard of our 75-worders seems to have increased in the last year, wouldn't it be useful to have a monthly 150,000-word challenge to do the same for our novel-writing?

Biennial? With my typing speed I could possibly manage fifty k in a month…
If I got the sack and stopped logging into the forum.

And can you imagine the voting?

I thought I'd get myself upto date and comments again...

Mirinda - There is something about this one that reminds me of something, a song no less, but I just can't put my finger on what it is, it's driving me crazy!!! Love it anyway, real and unreal at the same time.

Stormfeather - Once again another excellent tale, almost metaphorical, it seemed to be a fantasy but the last two word turns it all on it's head. Top notch.

Crys - I almost felt as this went over my head, an incredibly well written piece with heavy classical leanings.

Golden Apples - This one struck me as being a bit strange in a good way, it started rather normally and grew, much as the bird's song, to an excellent crescendo, one that can be taken in a couple of different ways.

I agree with you completely Chris, perhaps they could make it quarterly.... (Still not enough time, mind you)

Cluck, Cluck, Cluck

HB: What a brilliant idea - It could be like the Novanimo thing but with boobs on.

I'm not sure what you guys are talking about, but keep it clean!

There are grandmothers present.

The new stories are all very good. So long as we don't all below the mystic 42 I won't worry. Another month like January is really too much to expect.
