Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

Well I've voted. Pep, Teresa and Moonbat got mine.

Have to say I'm feeling rather pleased with myself, 3 votes in the 75 and 1 in the 300.

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

Thank you for the vote, MstrTal - seeing that was a lovely surprise earlier.:)

I've thoroughly enjoyed reading the entries, and I found something I liked in each one. That said, though, my votes go to The Judge, Hoopy, and Cul.:)

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

Perpetual Man - you have made my day! Thank you so much for your lovely kind words.

Still haven't had a chance to really sit down and read the stories, but when things get back to normal next week I hope to really concentrate on them.

Right now though, I'm off for wine, nibbles (including plenty of chocolate!) and Dr Who . . .:D

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

Woo-hoo! Thank you, Talysia! That was most unexpected, and very welcome.

I'm still at the first pondering rumination stage, though Perpetual Man's comments about Ursa's piece have depressed me -- I didn't see any puns, let alone ones about Chron members. I think trying to decipher it is going to be another bash my head against a wall job, even if I resort to googling.

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

I only saw two puns, but neither referred to a Chronicles member. I guess I'll have to look harder.

I think it might be reading too much into it... but it did seem to be that way to me...

We might need Ursa to confirm or deny the way my mind is working...

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

Maybe I am taking the word pun to loosely...

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

Or maybe you have a keener eye for these things than some of the rest of us.

Perhaps Ursa will tell us how many puns we should be looking for.

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

I should have added a statement, "No Chronner is the subject of a pun," at the end of the text (particularly as it would have been accurate).

Oddly enough, this wasn't one of my pun-filled stories. Well, not as such. There are various allusions (one of them only hinted at rather than actually present** - but 300 words is still only 300 words) to a wider background, but most of the wordplay is meant to enlighten the reader rather than baffle them. (Of course, that only works when the reader has seen the wordplay in the first place. But as Prague was a place of secrets and mysteries, you can't expect me to put everything in the foreground. ;):))

** - Thinking about it, it can't really be wordplay (or a pun) when the word is absent. Or can it...?

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

I've whittled my long list, which was twenty stories, down to a short list of ten. In order of posting:

chrispenycate
Parson
slack
No One
HareBrain
Allanon
Boneman
TheDustyZebra
digs
Culhwch

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

T.E. --- I am stunned! I never expected so much of a mention on that story. I am so pleased that you liked it!

(Better watch that post count, you are about to enter that Everest like 8000 post club. The numbers there are few indeed.)

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

Well here are my three. Good luck.

alchemist
Talysi
mosaix

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

Talysia
The Judge
Culhwch

Looking forward to seeing the winning story on the front page. :)

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

Thank you, crys!

It feels really odd seeing all the total votes and then looking and realising only nine people have voted so far!

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

Many, many thanks for the vote, Arkose. It's put me in a very happy frame of mind.

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

Well a very distracted Perp here, has managed to get himself a short list, but it's still too long... 14 in fact, that being said I think I've got three off that one, but shall ruminate some more before final voting.

And while I'm thinking about it, many thanks to Nixie for the vote, I was not really expecting any for this challenge!

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

I would like to thank Perp for his comments, I'm glad you like it. Also TE thank you for the mention!!

My shortlist is as follows:

Alchemist
Talysia
Mosaix
Perpetual Man
Sapheron
Aun Doorback
Slack
Chel
Moonbat
The Judge
Boneman

From this list I could read all day over and over I thought the stories were that good! However, I chose my three:

Perpetual Man, Sapheron and Boneman.

Boneman stood out right from the moment he entered as my winner. But any of the others in my list would happily get my vote and if they allowed it I would vote for them all.
