I agree, but I can handle the fact that casting will never match anyone's imagination.
One thing that did gall a little was in ep 2 someone pushes Payne out of the way. I took him to be too intimidating for this to be easily possible.
The Hound isn't what I'd imagine, but the actor carries the tone nicely, and I can see it working.
A big reservation will really be what The Mountain That Rides will look like. Obviously, that's going to be one helluva casting difficulty, as he has to loom. But I think I've already seen pics with him in, and it didn't match up, so the actor is really going to have to project the thing's brutality.
That is Jory who pushes Payne out of the way. I like the way the the two girls hugged him after Ned goes out to kill Lady. It shows how close the Starks are compared to their 'colder' neighbours from the south.
I think Payne looks ominous enough, although I thought he might be taller. The 'Hound' looks older than I put him in the books.
I am going to go with Jon as the son of Lyanna and Rhaegar.
I also liked how the girls hugged Jory and he showed feelings for them, maybe him giving Payne a little shove was showing that he's no slouch and giving him a small moment before....they are soon confronted by the Lannisters and heavily outnumbered.
If Jon is the son of Lyanna and Rhaegar how did Ned tell him "You have my blood" in ep 1? I do like the idea though, somehow Ned got him out when they stormed in years ago?
Lyanna is Ned's sister. That should be enough to understand.
OK, I'm starting to get ticked off WHERE'S GHOST??
Wasnt he always at Jon's side?
Having said that, I sure like the casting of Ser Jorah.
Yes not as much action last night but the series is moving along.
I am incredibly satisfied...
I think they're keeping Ghost in the "wings" for a surprise entance when Jon is fighting Othor. I'd hope to see him before then though.
Even if they had him in the background, it would have been fine. Looking forward to the fight with Othor.
One thing we should address: many, many questions about where Ghost was in this episode. Truth be told, the actors and production have made it clear that they learned just how hard animals can be to work with, and it seems like having them in all the scenes they wanted them to be present in proved prohibitive. Never fear, however. Next episode, Ghost is back, and he shows some teeth!
Hi Imp, I knew I had read something somewhere and couldn't find it at first but after a little searching, take a look here:
Reviewing “Lord Snow” Del Rey and Spectra - Science Fiction and Fantasy Books, Graphic Novels, and More
I've quoted the relevant part below:
I never used to either, but if you look at an overllay of Westeros over a map of Europe it does make sense.I must say, I didnt picture Kings Landing as hot, dusty and dry and palm trees to boot.

I had this thought about Ned's beginning of a flashback while Arya is water dancing .I don't think that battle Ned was recalling was an ordinary one, I think it was the beginning of the Tower of Joy flashback. The look on his face was so.................solemn.
