GOT discussion for aSoIaF readers (SPOILERS)

Hmm...wasn't the wall a bit more slippery and dangerous? Right now it looked like a maze of tunnels high above, also right now it's questionable how on earth should they ever shoot arrows down from there (that would actually pierce wildlings).

Other than that the usual rant...Some people not being bald enough etc :D

A pleasant surprise was that Jaime's character seems to be one of the strongest so far. Littlefinger seemed to have the same impression the entire episode. As a theatre and acting fanatic I really enjoyed how the dude playing Jaime handled it all.

I also agree that it's a shame this was (probably) the last time we saw Benjen, as his casting was pretty solid IMHO.
And as a last question, is Yoren supposed to be this merry?

I think we will have a flashback of the Tower of Joy in the begining of the next episode! :) I am looking forward to it!

But I may be wrong and it may be a battle, maybe the Trident...

I cant help but feel some sadness when I see certain people saying goodbye to wach other and me knowing it's the last time they will ever see each other.:(

I meant to say "When they say goodbye to each other"

Why no edit button when I'm logged in?

In defense of Jaime, I felt he was being sincere when he told Ned it "Felt like justice" when he killed the mad King. Do you guys think he was reaching out to Ned and Ned basically threw it back in his face?
In the book didnt Jaime cut the Kings throat and did not stab him in the back?
I re-read some of the first book last fall, but school info has pushed alot of that into parts unknown in my noggin.

And you are sure of that? I note the (probably) but I would be surprised to see Benjen beyond the Wall with his Rangers, or at least leaving it.

Another solid episode.

After seeing more and more of Ser Jorah, I think he was perfectly cast. Benjen also is a good bit of casting.

Yoren is not at all how I pictured him. I remember him being a fairly dirty individual; and I don't recall him smiling. As far as being something they changed from the books though, its fine with me. Never really liked Yoren, but I think I'll like the TV version better.

I'm a little underwhelmed with Littlefinger so far, but its only been one episode so I'll reserve further judgement.

And thanks to Mesanna for that link. I too was wondering where Ghost was; glad to know they at least explained his absence.

Re: 1.03 Game of Thrones - Lord Snow
Yoren, he could still end up dirty... I guess. But he's a small player so I'm not that bothered by it, Renly however,... Anyone else extremely underwhelmed by that guy?

Dany not making Viserys walk... I heard there is a confrontation coming up that will work as a substitute. The scene was added too early for her to make that decision. She has to be more comfortable in her new role (like she was at the end of the episode).

(possibly a small spoiler)
I'm hoping the fight to save The Old Bear is Ghost's coming out party but it will still be too late, he's a part of the Jon Snow mystique.. No idea what they are thinking.

People who haven't read the books seem to like the series just as much or even more then those who have. Perhaps because they don't know what happens to the characters, which is one big reason why it hooked us while reading the books. If it can hook non book readers for same reason we could be in for a long series..... fingers crossed
Thats from Gry Wnd

I wanted to post this here as I wonder if any people who have not read the books have a hard time with "This didnt happen in the books" or similiar thoughts.

I'm very underwhelmed by Renly, I may be wrong but I thought we were introduced to him during the trek from Winterfell to Kings landing. I think he needs to be more jovial and humourous and a ladies man.

I also thought Daeny gave Viscerys a good shove and later one of the guys wrapped the whip around his neck?? I do understand when there is so much time allotted to tell the story.Different mediums etc.

I hope we see more of the Direwolves than just them coming to the rescue as in Nymeria helping Araya with Joffery and Brans saving him from the killer.

I think maybe Imp's wife is more interested than my wife sad to say...

Yeah, not impressed by Renyl at all:mad:. I was expecting a big, bold, thinner Robert, a vain swirl of colour and humour. Then again maybe I'm just miles off. ;)

The direwolves is alittle annoying, I guessed they'd be a difficulty, but a few background shots woul have been achievable surely? I mean Bran's is supposed to have stayed in his room near constantly. Also, they look so Damn adorable that I wants more:mad:.

Thought Syrio was well done. This series is really bringing back to me just how many people will die.

Surely you don't mean Syrio is going to die??? :D

Teehee. Too many theories... *lies down*

Although if he's shown dieing on screen, that little question will be put to bed ay?

I'm not sure how he could have escaped several armed and armoured knights, though it was really cool he got acouple with just the practice wood blade.
I hope the writers can convey all the training Araya had done and her crazy assignments like having to capture cats.

I hope the writers can aslo convey the psychic connection the wolves have with Bran, Araya and Jon.

Oh, and where is Rickon? Only saw him for a moment in ep#1.

I thought I remembered reading somewhere that Rickon's part was a non speaking part for the first season? I may be way off on that though.

Rickon plays a small part in the book. Let's not forget that he does not have a POV and after he and Bran parted ways, we never hear about him....

But that doesn't mean the situation will remain the same in ADWD. :)

I agree though that he isn't essential to the story right now.

Loved the Syrio scene. I really hope the show keeps the "theory" alive. That way, even if he never shows up in the books again, we can still imagine what we want.

I found Littlefinger to be kind of flat. There's so much opportunity to just make every single thing he says into a subtle jab or needle and I didn't get that from the actor. I always imagine Littlefinger walking around like he has a secret joke no one else knows.

I suspect that letting people see this would rather undermine his ability to pull strings in the background.

By the way, I'm waiting for the DVDs and so haven't seen any of the episodes. If Littlefinger's scenes gave him the opportunity to let his mask slip while not risking being observed (including by, for instance, someone reporting to Varys), you may have a point, although it would be in his best interests to suppress such facial expressions at all times.

Not really. He pisses people off with his little jokes all the time and those kinds of little jokes are all about delivery. It's hard to explain what I mean, but you know it when you see it or experience it. Like the person is making fun of you but you can't really call them on it. My reading of Littlefinger had him doing that all the time...sort of smug and mocking all the time. I didn't get that from the guy playing him.

I'm sure his character will evolve as he gets into the part. We've seen him in one episode. I think a little patience is in order :)

They are simplifiying characters somewhat, don't you think? Catelyn is more sympathetic and doesn not convince Ned to go with Robert. Ned is set up for hubris. Jaime is more sympathetic. The hound is not so dark. I suppose they do not have as much time to turn them around.

I think Jaime is about as unsympathetic as a character can be, given that he threw Bran out the window and he's been identified as betraying Aerys by stabbing him in the back. Oh, he also screws his sister. I think you're forgetting how dispicable we all thught he was when we first read AGOT.

I've always liked Cat, and I like the way she's being portrayed. I think she was sympathtic until she became the Un-Cat.

Sandor hasn't had much of an opprotunity to show his dark side,. Give that one time
