Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

Well, it wasn't quite that I didn't have something, it's that what I decided to shape and post might be rather controversial over the fact that most of the "urban fantasy" part of it is hinted to at best. :( But word count limitations make this fun, no? ;)

I've had my abacus out and your well within limit, this month Karn:)

Nice story:)

Really, that's a shame.

Onwards and upwards...

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

Quick question. Does the use of triple Astrix to form a line break count as one word or three?

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

Well, it's not a moderator-ly judgment, but as one who has used lots of them, I can tell you that asterisks don't count as any words at all. Luckily for me. :D

That is to say, the challenge doesn't count them -- your word processor undoubtedly does.

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

TDZ is right -- punctuation isn't counted and nor are asterisks, unless they are obviously standing in for a word as in ' "****" he said.'

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

Just had a look around to get caught up...
Goodness Ursa...And I thought that TheJudge designed last month's theme and genre to keep me out! :D;)

Well. I accept your challenge good sir!

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

Thanks You!

That makes things both easier and harder. Easier because it opens things up for me to try something and harder because it gives me a few options and options lead to trying things. Trying things lead to more things which can and almost always do lead to more ideas. More ideas lead to more writing. More writing lead to more words. More words lead to more ideas. Its a vicious cycle and I love it.

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

I wrote a sensible one last night... with a pencil, because all three of the pens I keep beside my bed decided not to work. And then I wrote one about two minutes ago.

Guess which one I went for?

(D'oh!)

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

How do we know that it isn't Snow White listening to Philip and Paul?

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011
