Gull wing tractors. Now that's something of a bird puller.:)

Re: DISCUSSION the 75 Word Challenge JUNE 2011

If it reaches - (can it reach) 88 mph does it travel in time?

Re: DISCUSSION the 75 Word Challenge JUNE 2011

You'd need the clock tower from the 300 word challenge and a mighty big lightning bolt.

And inspiration strikes a month late!

Re: DISCUSSION the 75 Word Challenge JUNE 2011

Although it plows a lone furrow , it's highly cultivated.

Re: DISCUSSION the 75 Word Challenge JUNE 2011

So imagine a gull winged tractor, not any of yesterdays tractors, but the state of the art tomorrow tractor with anti-gravity propulsion system, a laser plough and a cyborg farmer.

Oh aargh!!

Oh aargh!!

So the copilot is a pirate? Interesting choice.

Re: DISCUSSION the 75 Word Challenge JUNE 2011

Back on topic; I've just put my first ever poem up:)

It's probably rubbish, but for me, it's most certainly the best I have ever written:eek:

Re: DISCUSSION the 75 Word Challenge JUNE 2011

Howdy,
I do need to find out what Dusty Zebra means by
"old guy" ?

Hmm ... well ... I'm not quite young enough anymore to get away with saying, "oh, everyone's old to me," like I used to do.

In all fairness, however, what I said was, "this guy is three years older than you, and he's already gotten a good handle on Kipling and posted a story!"

(For the rest of the Chrons, no, you haven't missed a post -- I'm attempting to ensnare another wannabe writer at work, and I'm dangling Bob as bait for him. His son told on me. And apparently got me into hot water at the same time.) :D

Re: DISCUSSION the 75 Word Challenge JUNE 2011

AKK, I've created a monster, thats a good thing. Yesturdays Tractors is a forum for guys that like tractors, some guys are still using tractors that are 60 or 70 years old, some are restoring old tractors and need advice or they just like to brag whose tractor has more horsepower. Yes some guys will put a Chev big block motor in an old tractor and pull the clock tower off its foundation. I have a 1950 Farmall M tractor, the seat is 7ft off the ground, makes me feel like a big man.
Zebra, why are you making that old man work? He should have retired years ago.

(could someone help me get on my tractor?)

Re: DISCUSSION the 75 Word Challenge JUNE 2011

All this talk of tractors reminds me of a roleplaying session on a game I used to be a part of. :p Hehe. *sigh* Good times those were, good times. Fun night.

Back on topic, there's still a few choices I'm considering for my favorite, but there's one that has caught my eye a bit better than the others.

Re: DISCUSSION the 75 Word Challenge JUNE 2011

Tractors? Please NO Tractors! I dwell in John Deere Country. I mean I even bank at John Deere Credit Union or I did before they changed the name to Veridian. UG! I mean the plant is right up the road from me as is the foundry.

Oh and about the Kipling thread thing I still can't get my story to sound right. :(

Re: DISCUSSION the 75 Word Challenge JUNE 2011

Oof. Seventy five. I was beginning to think I'd outsmarted myself there. I suppose I could have left out verse three, and had a sixty word entry.

Yes, I too, after several thousand words of attempted prose opted for verse; who thought up this stupid idea, anyway?

Ah, yes, that's right; and I'm sure I'll thank me for it in the fullness of time. I just hope the next winner is a little less extreme.

Re: DISCUSSION the 75 Word Challenge JUNE 2011

:O Great entry Chris. If you should win again, I beg of you an easier topic next time.

You should talk; yours was in within an hour of the thread opening. If my boss hadn't been in Taiwan doing a conference I'd have been lucky to have got mine finished for the deadline; it took me that long.

It's a promise. Not that I'm expecting to win again, but I didn't expect the May one to go so far, either.

But until I started working on this entry I hadn't realised quite what I was asking for; I knew it was a standard exercise, and worked hard to choose the author accessible enough for everyone…

No, next time something simple like polydimensional topography in cyberpunk style. :D
