Re: Discussion July 75 Word Writing Challenge

As always, numerious good stories. Not a clunker in the whole bunch.
Marvin, Nixie, Platty are stand outs for me so far, but for sheer orginality
and creativity, my anterior receptacle cover is off to Moonbat.

Oh no no, we can't be removing any receptacle covers in here -- this is a family site! And if you do that, I just know that HareBrain is going to come along and remove his posterior one before we know it.

Re: Discussion July 75 Word Writing Challenge

After a lot of thought I'm about to put mine up...

I had a choice of three (four) and decided with the first one.

One was a tale of the Mars Rover, but Moonbat got there first and did it so much better than I, mine however, had a twist at the end that would hopefully make one member of the Chrons smile if not cheer, so I'll post it when the month is done.

The other (and the reason it's three (four) stories) was me trying to be clever and failing, but may deserve a look at afterwards, something inspired by Teresa. That said, I then translated it into Hexadecimal, so there are two versions of the same story... and I had no idea where to begin word counting when it came to Hex...

Right off to post then back to work. (Which probably includes writing a few more comments)

So yours is about the apple, right? ;)

Wow, thank you TacticalLoco, and thank you Moonbat for the mention as well.

Re: Discussion July 75 Word Writing Challenge

So.... I thought I was ready to post my story. Then I read Perpetua's sheer brilliance and I refuse to post next!:D

Are we simply machines that are following our programmes? A fascinating story that raises more questions than it answers

Re: Discussion July 75 Word Writing Challenge

Greenkidx - Post it! You always turn in something excellent! (Thanks for the words though)

PM - what, where, when? One of my comments but I didn't do it.... Thanks PM it's nice to see what it feels like from the other side.

Re: Discussion July 75 Word Writing Challenge

Thank you Perpetual for your kind words. And I love the vibe in your story. Something very unsettling about it for me. This one stayed with me long after reading! PM definitely hit the nail on the head!

I think perhaps ill just sit on my tale a bit longer yet.

Well I’m sure there are plenty here who will stand up to the assault from the bot... hello? Anybody? A great tale, good idea and overall fun.

Thanks Perpetual Man!

Once again I would like to remind everyone that the "edit" at the end of my post IS included at part of the 75 words and the conclusion of the story :)

Re: Discussion July 75 Word Writing Challenge

Sorry to hear there's been bad news, Aun -- I hope it's something that can be remedied or at least ameliorated.

EDIT: and a very good piece despite your comments -- very haunting.

Sometimes sad times can influence our work for the better; there certainly seems to be a significant depth of feeling in what you have written Aun.

Re: Discussion July 75 Word Writing Challenge

A story on the way. Meanwhile...

Read the theme and this immediately came to mind. It isn't sci-fi, so I don't think I can submit it, but I thought you all might appreciate. I'm a little proud of it in an oh-god-I'm-rubbish sort of way.

A Robots Tale

Sapheron sat idly at his computer, the first meagre scraps of a report on the screen.

Thinks he; what separates me from this very laptop? My immorality. It dutifully obeys, strives hard to excel in an assigned purpose. Sloth, pride, boredom, greed, it feels none of them. It does not succumb.

I shall. My life will not be a robot's tale. I shall procrastinate and write a seventy-five word story for Chrons.

Re: Discussion July 75 Word Writing Challenge

Awoken at six o'clock in the morning, with a terrified 2+ year old, thinking daddy was going to leave him (after all the stress of calming him down) I came down stairs and read Saph's tale above made me laugh out loud and relax.

Ahh perfect. And six isn't that early is it?

Re: Discussion July 75 Word Writing Challenge

So, since ill be traveling and working next week heavily, I decided to enter my story now. I want to leave plenty of time for the 300 worder. And truth be told. I'm very happy with the fruit of my efforts.

Re: Discussion July 75 Word Writing Challenge

EDIT: NM I fixed it so it does not matter.

I think I am going to post my story now. . .

Trying something new. Hope you all like it. :)

Re: Discussion July 75 Word Writing Challenge

I know I'm Mister Sad but I actually count the words in every story and study any reasons for editing.

So just for clarification purposes, could the powers to be explain why a moderator (Pyan) can edit his story 14 hours after posting when the rest of us can't, or maybe we can and I just don't know it.

I recently forgot to post a title on a story and after asking a mod was told it couldn't be added.

Thanks in anticipation.:)
