There were so many brilliant stories this month that I really struggled choosing one.

To invidiously pick a few from the many I loved, I especially enjoyed:

Glitch's wonderful space mermaid

alchemist's adventurers in hyperbole city

HareBrain's victory (makes me laugh every time)

johnnyjet's super-sinister Dad

TDZ's horrible horrible (did I mention horrible?) and brilliant story of colours in an over-populated world (shudder)

High Eight's lovely story of hope

MemoryTale's excellent bomb disposal

and Vertigo's wonderfully poetic description of worlds ('the lurid spectrums of gas giant storms' has to be one of my favourite phrases from all the 75 word challenges).

Many others too -- but if I listed all the ones I loved (have to mention Aun Doorback's, mosaix's, Cul's -- okay -- going to stop now) I'd be here all night.

I voted for springs' because it makes me go teary every time. And when I first read it, I thought it was perfect and I still do.

And: thank you so much for the vote, HareBrain :)

HareBrain takes my vote this month.

We seem to be way down on votes at the moment and only a few hours to go.

According to my little list (which might well be inaccurate): AlcubierreWarp, Anthus, Arkrose, Aun Doorback, Bob S. Sr, choccoweeble, Gary Compton, Highlander, Luiglin, Phoenixthewriter, reiver33, Scott R. Forshaw, southron sword, StilLearning, StormFeather, Teresa Edgerton and Ursa major had not yet voted…

I've not voted yet. I've not read them yet. When's the voting close? I'll go check in the thread...

shortlist :
AlbacurieWasp
tisiphone
Boneman
Teresa Edgerton
The Judge

Vote goes to:
Stormcrow

Had to do it in a hurry this month as I've been away for the past few days. Thanks to everyone who's mentioned me in their lists!

Thanks for the mention, Hex, and the second, Mouse (for a moment there, i thought you had defied the laws of physics and cast three votes). And most of all, thanks for the votes Gary and Karn; 'twas much more than I expected this month.

And we have a late challenge to the runaway leader. I'm off this week; maybe I'll stay up for this one.

I've done nothing to alleviate the tension, as I voted for stormfeather - rough few days and that cheered me up no end. Being very very shortsighted myself total blindness is one of my biggest fears.

Chrispenycate -thanks for the mention!

Sorry for leaving it so late to vote; I've had a very busy month, Chrispy. (As if work is any kind of excuse ... pfft!) :) Nevertheless, I'm never one to shirk my responsibilities, so I managed it with minutes to spare.

My vote goes to TDZ, and an excellent story.

My shortlist comprised of:

Springs
Hex
Alchemist
HareBrain
Boneman
Teresa

Another fantastic month, folks, and yet more wonderful stories. Congratulations to everyone who participated. :)

EDIT: Thanks to everyone who placed me on their short lists; I'm as pleased as punch!

As usual, but perhaps more appropriately this month, there is a wide spectrum of stories.

As usual, the entries are listed in date-of-posting order within each category:

  • The Colour of a Fairy Tale by ratsy
  • Doctor of Chromothaumotology by chrispenycate

  • Victory by HareBrain
  • Cold Steel by paranoid marvin
Winner:
  • The Phantasmagorium by Teresa Edgerton.

Many thanks for the vote, paranoid marvin. :):)

And thanks for the mention, Glen. :)

Been real busy lately, just sat down to vote and find it is all over.
I didn't get to vote or thank Hope and Dusty for kind words and listing.
I am very sorry.
Congrats to Platty.
I really thought that I still had hours to spare.

I will go stand in a corner the rest of the nite.

Bob

Thanks horribly for the mention, Hex, and even more excellently for the vote, Scott!

And big Congratulations! to TSP! Can't wait to see what you have in store for us.

Thank you to everyone who mentioned my story. Couldnt say it before but I have been kicking my self all month for writing and posting while sick because I left out the genre completely! That said, I love what I wrote and wouldnt unwrite it for the world (just would have posted something else is all).

Well done everyone and Congratulations TSP, also a big thanks for letting me do the comments, sorry I didnt finish this round, I promise to be better next time. :D
