It's going to be tough this month, determining where things fall within (or without) the genre. I read that link, but I don't know any more than I did before!

I'm going to try not to study it till the last second, though.

As long as you don't paint yourself into an eleven-dimensional corner**, Karn, I'm sure you'll be okay.

** - Which must be hard to do in seventy-five words.

Oh Jeebus. Colour? I thought I'd stumbled into the photography thread.

But at least no-one will be finding the subject unpaletteable....

Welcome to the Chrons, stevietee. Nice story as well. :)

Springs, so sad, but that was beautiful.

I'm sorry, Hex, I didn't mean to make you sad. Or you, Aber.

Ach, they'll be fine.

But, yes, excellent job there springs.

I haven't got my head round this genre either. Generally, I only see the term Science Fantasy used as an insult, as in "It's not science fiction, it's science fantasy - a laser of that frequency would never penetrate a Titanium/Vanadium alloy." So, thinking ahoy!

Well that's mine in.

And for anyone who doesnt understand (all right Parson):) The chakras are the spiritual centres of the body. See here

:D:):eek::p

Hey Glitch - that is an awesome story. 180 as they say in darts:D

Thank you Gary. I liked how you brought all the different religions together with a splash of colour :)

Damn. I have an idea, but to make it work I need to steal Mouse's format-the-story-to-make-it-look-like-a-mouse idea. And I don't want to do that. :(

David, I'm sure if you ask Mouse she'll let you borrow her formatting - just this once - maybe!

Warhammer 40k is science fantasy, Cowboys vs Aliens could also be considered it. So could Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness. Many episodes of Doctor Who could be considered it as well.

It's about mixing both fantasy and sci-fi together. If you take futuristic elements and put it in a fantasy world, or vice-versa, that counts.

Super heroes with real super powers are science fantasy (rather than being in any sense strict science fiction).

(So all the "science" in Heroes was beside the point. For instance, how can a change in one's DNA, a change that does not provide one with wings, grant one the power to fly? It can't.)

a fantasy story that is attempting to be science fiction
this is what happens when I try and write Sci-Fi anyway :D nice to know it has a name. hmmm color? what to do about that I wonder... can we fan-fic something up for it?

a fantasy story that is attempting to be science fiction

Or a science fiction story that wants it both ways.

Or a story written by an author who has every intention of including both science fiction and fantasy elements and makes no secret about it.

PM'd Mouse. Also thought of a variation that might just work and isn't really stealing her idea, honest!

EDIT: Hmmm. Tries my "brilliant" idea. Might be back to the drawing board. I think I could make it work for a 300 word challenge, by maybe not in a 75 worder.
