New guy here (see my intro on the introductions thread). Luckily, this first challenge of mine was right up my alley. I dwell on such matters as a matter of course.

I'm getting my entry in earlier than usual as I will be on holiday from mid-month until 27th. Might just be able to vote though if not too jet-lagged!

You folks do know it's only the 4th day of the month right?
It's so unfair of you all to be talented and stuff.

I had an idea similar to Teresa's which I think I will go ahead and write out.
Don't know if I will post it tho, have to see what it looks like.

Wrote it, posted it.
Will probably read it in the morning and want to change something, but hey....

A quick reminder, please be careful when you post with word count ETC. Through stupidity on my part my entry is now disqualified. Will repost when challenge closes.

Noooooooo!!!!

I always like Nixie's entries and I'll miss it!

Apparently I am incapable of writing something and letting it simmer for a few days. Tomorrow I will re-read what I posted, and spot something I could have done better.

Next month, maybe I will learn patience... (I think this every month so far!)

Some great stories up already - voting will be hard (again)!

Sorry about your disqualification, Nixie. Accidents are accidents, but this explains why I missed it. :)

On another note, I thought innocence would have nice, joyful stories. Definately wasn't expecting the dark ones that have shown up.

Forgive me if I seemed a little cold over Perp's review. I couldn't understand it past the fact it was a good one. So I got myself an interpereter, and now see that it was a great review. Thanks again Perp.

That's okay Lilmizflashythang - the reviews should always be positive it is the remit I set myself when I started doing them. (It's easy to do when all the stories are uniformly excellent) Sometimes though I do get a bit carried away with what I'm writing...

An extra long weekend means I drop behind a bit, and a bit busier at work means it's going to be trickier to keep up for a few days... so a first attempt at closing the gap:

Mith – There was something I really liked about this one from the moment I first read it, I just could not put my finger on what it was! Now I think it is a mixture of the unusual perspective, seeing the story from the vampire’s point of view, and the voice that he is given. In such a few words the creature is made to come alive and actually sound like a personality in his own right.

Ratsy – Sigh. I know I shouldn’t but I really wanted to smile at this one. There was something of innocence not just in the words of on the paper, but in the way a young messenger could not see the importance of the note he carried when tempted with pie. In much the same way as the previous story gave a character life, this one painted vivid pictures in my head. Excellent.

Stevietee – This story almost comes with sound. There was a beauty in the opening lines that was little more than a precursor for what was to come. Once again I felt that there was a double innocence worked into the story, the fact that the boy was an innocent, and his killer had a kind of innocence about him as he slit his throat, thinking he would stop the deaths. Who knows what retribution a king might work? Excellent.

DEO – Oh dear. Sometimes we need to be reminded that aliens may well come in all shapes and forms, and that some of those forms may look like something else entirely to us, in fact they might be more closely like other things. Like trees. Wonderful description, that tells you exactly what the alien is, but does not give the game away, and a punch line that makes you smile. No malice in the dogs actions, just his nature.
