World Fantasy convention 2013

Mosaix's other thread reminded me. Where is the programme on the WFC site? I won't be going every day so I want to prioritise and I can't find the info. The "programming" link is just about being on panels (why would people want to be on panels?).

They're fun for those of us who like that kind of thing -- discussing stuff what interests us. Plus getting your name in front of an audience can't hurt!

The programme likely isn't anywhere near finalised yet, but I suspect there'll be a draft one in about six weeks or so.

Cool, thanks.

It gives the impression there are more people on panels than ... spectating?

Unlikely

Eve if it does give that impression there will be plenty of people listening. I think I can say in this case, more than the panel (this is not always the case, esp. if you're going head to head with GRRM in the next room, or Brian Blessed doing an interview!).

Guys, this looks like a lot of fun. I have never been to something like this...maybe one day. I am not sure if they do anything like this in Canada ever?? I could see Vancouver or Toronto doing a Convention sometime but not Edmonton where I am. (even though we have a million people)

edit: I checked out their website and it was held in Calgary in 2008...that is close to me...come back I say!!

I think there is a place on one of the updates where you can put your name down and if anyone drops out they can sell them - i think that's how Boneman got his.

I contacted the organisers, and they said they had no returns and no policy on them, but to keep checking back. Got my entry through the internet, believe it or not - just googled tickets to World fantasyCon, and there was someone offering a membership!! Which we just did as a transfer, as soon as I paid her. Incredibly lucky...

Just booked flights. getting in thursday early afternoon, leaving Sunday morning. I think I'll be missing my girls too much to want to stay all day by then. Seats were running out, though!

Kath and I are arriving Thursday early afternoon and leaving Monday morning. Trains are poo on Sundays. A lot of waiting around for connections.

Thursday evening, is I think, the Gemmell Awards.

Glitch; the Trainline has some good offers. I got 1st class for less than standard on one journey by booking early on a set train, go figure.

Exciting! Wish I could go too, would love to meet all you Chronners. I'll be watching this thread with interest, though, as I'm thinking of going to the 2014 one in Washington (now that I'm only a short flight away) - booking opens in November...

Does much tend to happen at these events on Sundays, or is everyone too hungov--- too busy getting home for there to be much of consequence?

(answer will help determine which flight I get back)

There's an awards ceremony on Sunday, but you have to pay extra. I think the general attendees are mostly leaving on Sunday.
