World Fantasy convention 2013

There's an awards ceremony on Sunday, but you have to pay extra. I think the general attendees are mostly leaving on Sunday.

I think you only pay extra if you want the meal with it. I *think* there was mention of a balcony thingy where people who just wanted to watch the awards could Ah yes
those registered members of World Fantasy Convention 2013 who do not wish to attend the Banquet will then be invited to watch the ceremony from upstairs in the Oxford Gallery.

I generally leave about tea time on the sunday, though I'm usually fairly conned out by then.

For a given value of sober, perhaps. :D

Usually about to lose my voice by that point in the proceedings too.

I was a bit overkeen and booked from Wednesday night through Sunday. Oh, well. All the more time to sample the nearby pubs!

Have any Chrons been confirmed for any of the panels/events/etc?

I hope you like wet, salty air!

Booked my flights last night: Friday morning to Sunday afternoon.

And canapes, I trust?

Kmq's shindig aside, I think a few people had said they may show for a Chrons meet-up? Anybody still thinking of this and, if so, when? This also applies to Chronners attending the Convention itself.

Ooh, ooh, good point Alc. I was thinking of going to Argos and buying a badge-making kit, and if I Brian says it's okay, using the chrons logo, so we could recognise each other, and sending one to each of the attendees. Failing that, a designated bar/pub and renedezvous time?

Even without the badges, by knowing some (I've met two!) and subsequent introductions, we'll all stumble across each other eventually. But designated bar/food joint is a good idea. Now, who knows of such a place?

I agree. :) i don't know of any, though. But it would be nice if it was somewhere where non-atendees can come too as I know there were a few hoping to make it in for a meet up. I know the conference hotel bars etc are open to non atendees but will be busy.

I have a few people I plan to meet with more formally (get me and my, oooooh, two contacts :p) so it would be handy if we could even choose an evening where we might try to get together. Given some don't get there til Firday it seems Fri/Sat might be logical?

And cake, KMQ. yay!

Ooh! That reminds me - I remember Teresa once suggested we could wear a chrons badge or something, to more easily identify each other.

I thought something that could slip into the conference pass - perhaps simply printing out the site logo? That would identify anyone as a chronner. :)

I now imagine two random Chronners meeting each other at the bar, subtly checking badges, then a round of pointing and...

"Boneman?"

"No. Springs?"

"No. I,Brian?"

"No. Kissmequick?"

"No. Glitch?"....

Well, I won't be going into the convention itself (too late, too poor, too disorganised by the move) but I do have the intention of visiting Brighton during that period; does anyone know the region and can recommend a hostelry/eatery where attendees are likely to find non participants? (Does anyone see the commercial advantages of I Brian auctioning off adverts to local pubs so the highest bidder gets an invasion of Chrons? As long as the beer's drinkable it really doesn't matter what the establishment's like.)

Not that I'm properly convention-broken. I wandered round the Worldcon in Glasgow with a Baen book prominently displayed in a transparent plastic bag without once being accused of being Mr. Lobby Lud and requested to hand over the News Chronicle award. So a chronicles T-shirt … After all, I don't look much like my avatar any more.

After all, I don't look much like my avatar any more.

I look exactly like my avvie. Towering buttresses, looming edifices, brooding aura, small man on a bridge.

Yup, that's me

If you still have trouble, despite that incredible selfie-description, I'm probably going for purple hair this time, and usually have a Hong Kong Phooey bag.

Argh! I know what most people here look like and I'm not going. :( You should all come to Bristol Con.
