World Fantasy convention 2013

Ok, back to the stickers. Who prefers small or large?

Small (38mm x 38mm) or Large (76mm x 76mm)

If we keep Brian topped up with beer; he won't be out of pocket!

At those prices, it'd cost more to post them out than print them. Best plan would be to pick them up from a central point. Who's got a stand, or whatever they're called? I know Ian Sales has one.

I was going under the assumption that we'd pick them up off Brian at the event.

Thanks, Brian - that article makes my point far more eloquently than I managed.

If that article has any relevance to what I said then I'm Mother Teresa. You really need to get out more, Anne:)

Most women I know wouldn't take offence at what I said. They would take it as a compliment which is the spirit it was intended. It doesn't mean I'm hitting on them just being nice. If they said my suit looks great, then champion.

As for the Obama spat. It's a joke as she is the best looking attorney general in recent years.

I think large stickers would make it easier for us to see each other across the room.

Especially if they were bright pink. Can we have pink stickers, Brian?(*)

(*) or yellow? Yellow's bright. And now I think about it, I'm not hugely fond of pink.

@Glitch -- spoilsport :)

OK, Anne, Gary, just drop it. We see that you were offended, Anne. We see that you are sorry, Gary.

In the meantime, no foul and no harm done. :)

Let's get back to WFC as this is going to be a pretty major event, and Worldcon follows next year in Glasgow.

If I can try a tally:

1. Who has already booked to attend WFC?
2. Who s turning up for a drink anyway?

I've managed to get 2 tickets so I might come with my beloved.

Drinks? - Yes please. I'll have a gallon or two!

Errr... Brian, it's Eastercon in Glasgow next year.

Worldcon is in London.

I am going to both with my daughter, plus WFC.

I'll be there for drinks, because I was too procrastinatorial/cheap to get tickets.

If there are enough of us who want to meet outside the convention one evening (or both) might it be worth hiring somewhere? Brighton pubs are pretty busy at weekends.

Am I being naive in asking what's wrong with the bar in the convention hotel? Obviously I've never been to one of these things and could be missing many obvious things wrong with it..

It rather depends on whether they have security to throw non-convention people out of the hotel. At the ones I've been to there were people on a welcoming table in the reception area during the day. I don't know whether they would have intercepted anyone entering without a Convention badge, but I think it's likely -- after all, people have paid a lot of money to attend, so they don't want non-payers slipping in to the talks/discussions etc. Of course, it may be a little more lax in the evening.

As an aside, if we are meeting up I'd prefer a lunchtime thing, rather than an evening, so as to get home in time for my cocoa.
