World Fantasy convention 2013

I look like my avatar, so will be easy to spot.

There were rumblings of a Chrons get-together on the Saturday evening. How about somebody who lives closer than five hundred miles suggests a venue? Like a pub or something?

Does anyone know any pubs in Briton? My last visit (apart from the railway station) was last century, and pubs might last decades, but not that many maintain quality that long.

They've put up the programming grids :)
-scribbles around my printed copy, wondering what half of the sessions are actually about-

So, tick tick tick and my two days are filled.

For me I like the look lf how far can YA go, for the next time I scratch my head wondering what I'm writing, I like the judge a book by its cover to give insights into cover are, nifty shades of fae sounds intriguing, and when the fairies come out to play. Mostly tying into Waters, though, so I might find a good sci fi one to attend to break up the fantasy. :)

Looks good.

I don't see the KaffeKlatsches on there - hope they don't clash with too much. A screenwriter friend of mine went to a big shindig and they videod the main ones and posted them online, so you could go to other talks, and catch the main event at your lesisure. You miss the atmosphere, but not the words of wisdom...

BTW, because of the Forbidden Planet event there are no scheduled Angry Robot signings at WFC. It's possible I might be in the mass signing (they haven't contacted me, though, so I have no idea), but in any case, if you want something signed, just collar me in the bar. Politely :)

Not that I can see.

Nah, I mean the one we're handed when we check in.

And, ooh -- puzzles to solve. What could "Difficult to Digest" possibly be about?

The coffee and Biscuits in the KaffeeKlatsches?

Exciting, now it's getting close! It's the veteran car run on Sunday 3rd - well worth a stroll along to the finish line on the front.

Most of the pubs I know are a bit of a trek from the hotel. (Some often have special events at weekends too)

BUT! Here is a handy little map showing all the pubs around the hotel. It doesn't have much info on the pubs sadly, but if we pick one and take a google-gander....

The following website offers and interesting map of the area. Although I think Hex might complain about me calling it a map :p
Indeed I will. It's a pictothing. Or something. Also it moves. I was nearly sick on my keyboard.

how far can YA go
Me too. Can I sit beside you?

nifty shades of fae sounds intriguing
-- I know! But it's on at the same time as Holly Black is reading which is BIZARRE given how much she writes about the fae -- Spiderwick Chronicles, Tithe etc. GAH!

Strange maps you Englishers have. No pub info, you say? Google sounds like a plan, though.

I shall bring sucky sweets.
I have asked the nice chap who runs mine and Hex's b and b if he can advise on a decent pub. I will let you know if I get an answer.

Yeah, I'm intrigued by the Fae ones. And then Elvish has left the Building, whatever that is. I'm thinking maybe the use of languages, maybe...

The times of the Kaffeeklatsches are on the Kaffeeklatsches page though, so I've written mine in (printed the grid out to circle stuff I like the look of).

I went a bit mad on the Kaffeeklatsches, securing Michael Marshall Smith, Ellen Datlow, F. Paul Wilson, as well as TOR, Harper Collins USA and PS Publishing. The only one I didn't get was Joe Hill, but that was somewhat foreseeable.

The rest of the schedule looks good: not many dud hours that I can see. I'm torn between the M. R. James double-bill on Saturday night and a ruddy good lash-up in Brighton. Anyone?

Imagine the number of high-end biscuits you'll consume!

There will be some lashing, I imagine. Hopefully springs's contact (landlord) gives us a suggestion.

I love the look of the double bill cos I love theatre but suspect I'll succumb to meeting everyone if that comes off. I do like a party. :)

Edit, he said we'd probably need to book somewhere cos it's stag and hen night heaven. :(
