DISCUSSION THREAD -- September 75 Word Challenge

As the same hard disk crash that perturbed my voting also set my charts back a long way I can't manage a list of non voters as I do most months, but there seem to be rather a lot of them.

You posted that chart in last month's thread -- can't you rescue it from there? I know that wouldn't help with non-voters from this month, but it might save the rest of what you lost.

(TDZ, these meetings you speak of: there's food there, right? And I wouldn't have to pay?)

Oh, there's loads of food -- I love to cook, but I can't eat it all by myself! :D

Thank you, Chrystal Haven, for the mention.

Nice voting, another nail biting finish. But as it's a friday night, I'll check back very late saturday morning, after a nice long lie in. One of those weeks...

My backup copy went up to July (without the voting), (what, you didn't think I'd have a backup copy? With all the hours that have gone into it?) and I can't upload spreadsheets, so it would be massive copy and paste.

I think I might try and learn how to to an URL link to the original rather than an upload; it must be feasible.

HareBrain - Thank You for that. I'm delighted that you liked it that much:)!

Nice Vulcan (Filton-born, me;)).

Thanks for the listings/mentions, crystal haven, Boneman and Hex. :)

Hmm, I voted right at the start, but didn't have time then to post, and subsequently forgot.
My vote went to alchemist, but it was a difficult choice. The short list, with bare points between them was
paranoid marvin
Bowler1
stormcrow
stratosaeros and
James Coote.

All great entries in a very strong month.

The list (shortlist*)

Springs
Karn
Mosaix

Reasons Why Dinosaurs and Science Fiction Don't Mix

For me, Kiffinyjean was the winning choice.

Her delightful understanding of ancient reptiles by the best brains in the future, made me LOL. Very funny sci-fi with dinosaurs.

BTW- I'm glad you made it in time to enter the 75 challenge.

Top Comedians who fought for first place.

Hex - Awesome, you crafted an excellent brew. Thus quote the beast from the stars. I grinned as I read by candle light your Poe-style tale, cool name for a spaceship too.

Reiver - Very orignal and movie-like, I felt like I was watching a sci-fi weird tales movie. A night club named the Meteorite, where struggling comedians get thier first break on stage. I actually did a rim-shot in my mind after I read the last line.

Stephen4444 - I was shaking my head with the beat, and I read over and over. The first time I read it, I laughed at the idea that your story can be sung. Fantastic word-rap, very up beat and hip with dark humor.

James Coote - You mentioned a "shopping trolley" (as did others), the option which I considered as well, and it was a zinger, then I get zapped again at the end. Great work, I'm glad you also made it in time. Your tale would make for a good movie.

Short List of other great funny people

Thanks Abernovo, Tisiphone and Ursa for the shortlistings. I'm so chuffed with all the nice comments/nominations/short-listings this month.

Looks like it's another tie - this is starting to become the norm rather than the exception!

Congratulations, paranoid marvin and FeedMeTV!

Two worthy contenders!

But it was easy for me to vote, since FMTV very nearly had my vote the first time. I did all my agonizing then.

An easy vote for me as well: I had PM as a runner up, though FeedMeTV would have been one of the Honourable Mentions if I had five of those, rather than just the four.

Tiebreaker vote?

Somehow I pictured these things coming down to gladiatorial combat in the event of a tie. Wishful thinking, I suppose.

As a sucker for fake advertising, I have to go with Paranoid Marvin.

(Also, thanks to TheDustyZebra for the shortlisting. Much obliged.)

Harebrain Thanks for the short listing!

Tie breaker vote goes to FeedMeTV for the SF version of Noah's Ark. Great idea!

Well, it sounded as if your backup copy was rather more behind than that.... :)

It can't possibly be as far behind as my spreadsheets are, since I haven't updated them in over a year. Arrgh.
