Clippedwolf – Good lord are these things determined to try and make us cry? Another one that pulls strongly on the heartstrings, painting a heart-rendering story with such depth in so few words. The loss of a parent is more than enough, but a dying child’s dream to rejoin with him in the star? Oh where did I put those tissues?

Thank you. The intended story was a female astronaut about to enter cryo-sleep and where her mind wonders as she drifts off to sleep. I knew the title was the place to convey that; in retrospect the title is just as obscure as the text.

Thank you Parson and tdz :)

I seemed to have lost my mojo in these comps over the last few months, not sure why but they didn't hold the same joy for me as they used to, but still I entered (with some fairly poor and mundane efforts) but this month the creative juices started flowing again. I think I've just been preoccupied with other tasks outside of writing.
I have an idea for the 300 worder but I'm yet to put pen to paper, hmmm, what is the word processing equivalent of that, yet to put fingertips to keyboard.

Or at least those of us who don't know what it means, know how to look it up.

And that's mine up too, not too sure that it did not need a little more work but thems the breaks sometimes.

PM, it worked for me, and there's a certain poetic rhythm to it that is hard to put my finger on - maybe it's the negative reality of the beginning, followed by the positive future that the stars hold, nicely balance by the space elevator bang in the middle? If that was the intention, you succeeded admirably, and if not, it doesn't matter - you still succeeded :)

It almost reminds me of an inverted take on John Masefield's Poem Cargoes ...

Silvermoon – The feeling I get from this one is a world, possibly our own destroyed by environmental upheaval, turning it into a near uninhabitable wasteland, where there is no escape from the hell it has become. Well perhaps one... There are of course other interpretations, and that is what I so liked about it, the description gives just enough to open the imagination!

Perp – Sigh.

MB – I’m not sure what happened here, I started reading this one and just did not like it but... by the time I got to the end the thing had won me over (It was the second verse where it started to happen). Just loved the word usage, the way they bled together so well, rolling through the mind like liquid honey. Following the ascent of man, from the beginning to the now... and beyond.

Tactical Loco – I loved the idea of this one. There was an epic feel to it, a great idea at its core and something that felt just a little horrific. The source template had to be destroyed... scary if the source template is the original human... and then the closing that gives the impression that there is something more going on anyway... a big idea pulled off well.

Highlander – There is always the argument that some types can just take their computer games a little too seriously, and here there is someone taking them more seriously than ever. It’s both scary and incredible, especially when we see the last game he was playing. Perhaps he even made it...

I just love hanging out in a place where everyone knows what "ad astra" means. :D

Car for Sale: 2002 Vauxhall. Night-time blue. Excellent condition> Ond owner. Low mileage.

Now that's what an Ad Astra is

Many, many thanks, greatly appreciated.

Is it me, or is it a slow month this month? I keep popping back for little 75 wonders of entertainment only to discover no new postings. The only person that can be happy with that is Perp, who gets to slack off...

Heh, unless they all leave off until the end. ;)

Very true, Bowler. I'm also sure Perp isn't complaining too much. I can see him now: feet up on the desk, cup of tea in hand, a half-eaten packet of chocolate Hobnobs within easy reach... :D

I don't know what your on about, mate.

While rubbing down the front of my shirt and licking my chocolate covered lips...

Same here - look forward to each post, but not many appearing ... No Hobnobs here, just a cuppa, but Hobnobs aren't too big in West Africa :D
(work here).
