Discussion -- 300 Word Challenge #8

I can't believe it's been almost 2 months since I've written anything or been on here. I was wrapped up in Christmas and other odds and ends that conveniently gave me an excuse not to write anything.

Anyway, I'm back, and hopefully disciplined enough this time to keep at it.

My 300 word attempt is my first writing in a while, so be gentle.

The photo is open to interpretation but I took she wreck as beeing truly massive (the size of an oil tanker) and metalic.

Enjoy (I hope).

Grinnel - Perion was the only survivor discovered many decades ago within the wreckage of a ship, then in his twilight years, he is summoned to join those who perished. A very good haunting drama.

I read through the stories after posting mine, and discovered someone else had my first idea. And wrote a much better story than I could make out of it. Yes, Perp, I'm looking at you.

Eeeep! Sorry DEO, I'm sure it's not really the case, had you posted first I would have felt exactly the same way.

Anyway if I were going to to throw aside casual modesty I would say something along the lines of great minds thinking alike ;)

Grinnel – A beautiful story that neatly captures an man’s entire life. There is just the right amount of emotion conveyed through the words for the reader to connect with him, allowing us to almost feel the ‘hollow’ he feels inside, and to understand it. You can almost see him struggling to fit in with the society around him, perhaps even enjoying it, but always feeling as though there is something missing. And those very things that make him special are the things he notices that feed the hole in his heart. The beauty comes in the end, that even after a lifetime a man can be surprised, that understanding can come and a hollow can be filled.

Hmm ... if it's time to vote already on the 75, it must be time for me to come up with an idea for the 300. Or close, anyway.

Interesting. Joining those who perished is not where I was going, but it is just as satisfying an interperetation as my original intent.

Well, it didn't go anywhere near where I had intended, but I posted it anyway. So little time I can log on, mustn't waste, could have ended up without posting this quarter…
