Discussion thread -- 75 WORD WRITING CHALLENGE January 2013

Congratulations, mosaix and the Judge.

Just voted, and the tiebreaker poll is almost tied.

And thanks to Juliana, Phyrebrat, johnnyjet and Harebrain for the shortlistings. :)

And a great big thank you to Her Honour for the vote! :):)

Congratulations to you both! Well deserved, and you were both on my shortlist! However TJ was in the battle royale for my vote first time round, so it goes to her, But a close run thing indeed.

Indeed, congratulations to both mosaix and TJ! I voted for mosaix before, and that's where my vote goes this time, too, but they're both good stories. Well done everyone!:)

Ooooh. My two favourite stories in a tie break.

I love TJ's story too, but mosaix's gets my vote again.

Congratulations to Mosaix and The Judge - I was hoping for a three-way tie, so I could plug three vo... ah... erm... did I mention that before??;)

Anyway, I tipped my hat to The Judge - she very nearly got my vote in the challenge, anyway, and was so cyberpunk/change it was wonderful. I fully expect her to set this to music and put it up on youtube... Oooh, ooh, when we have a chrons get together, sometime in the future, maybe it could be performed live???

Ooh, this is exciting (and very unexpected -- I thought mosaix would romp home!)

Anyhow, thanks for the vote HB, and for the votes in the tie-break those who have.

As for performing the Jacked Hacked Cracked Rap, if anyone wants to set it to music, feel free. Thinking about it... we've got Chris p who can do the sound for us; hope is a singer, and Phyrebrat can do the choreography and dancing... All that's left is hiring the O2 arena! :D (And we've got alchemist to deal with the mental health fall out thereafter!)

Congrats to both but as mosaix was in my top 3 I'll stick there.

Thanks for votes and mentions ... always appreciated.

Just a quick note about my strange coincidence. My original idea was to have the spider device crawl down the outside of the spine on the skin. However, I thought it would be better for it to be internal within the spinal column. A touch of googling later and I learned about a cavity within the spinal column full of spongy fibrous matter called Subarachnoid Space. Just perfect.

Congratulations to TJ and Mosaix. I re-voted for Mosaix as that was where my first vote went. :)

As for this rap, malarkey, I want everyone in the studio by 8AM sharp. Slow release carbs, lots of water, and a giant Toblerone (for the choreographer ).

[EDIT: I never thanked TJ for the shortlisting! Thank you very much; it's rather validating being on one of the joint winner's shortlists)

Luiglin, that is awesome! It was obviously meant to be. Your story battled very hard in my final decision.

Cheers DustyZ ... I must admit to a sudden belief in the Gods of Writing at the coincidence.

As it was the one I voted for I feel that I obviously saw the work of powerful forces in effect! ;)

As for my own story: For those who don't know (but I'm sure most of you do) Matryoshka Dolls, often called Russian Dolls are those little basically shaped but nicely painted wooden dolls that can be opened to reveal a smaller one, which can be opened... you know what I mean.

I tried to squeeze in (and had to remove) a hint that this was just one reality, and that there was another one beneath, hinting that the 'reality' the people were escaping from was little more than a virtual construction in itself, leading to the infinite passage of 'realities' one inside another.

The nearest I managed to get was allowing myself the title, and the rather obscure use of the word virtually which only means more when you were the one writing the story.

I did consider dedicating my entry to Parson, but that might have been seen as currying (divine) favour...

I don't believe that would have got in "divine" favo(u)r, but it would have garnered a smile from me.

Bob Sr. Great to hear your voice again!! Hope you're down with those nasty hospitalizations once and for all.

Blessings my friend

Mosaix's poignant story of selfless love won my vote. But for pure wicked Delight TJ's story was a cracker.
