Sekrit Santa II -- Let's Do This Again

Just found this thread. It sounds brilliant. I would like to take part next time you do this. :)

Is there a word target or limit?

Do all the stories end up getting posted?

We've only done this twice, so it's all very informal.

The suggested minimum length is 1000 words. No upper limit has ever been suggested, but we've all kept it reasonable. (No full novels yet.)

Some folks like to post their stories as attachments within the thread. (Go to the other "Sekrit Santa" thread and you'll see some examples.) Other prefer to keep them to themselves, and possibly try to market them.

Sounds fun!

I read further back about someone doing 25,000 and almost had a heart attack (I couldn't do that in a month at my pace)... Luckily I think that turned out to be a jest.

I'll check out the previous event, thank you Victoria. :)

Argh! My computer has been behaving horribly and I've had to do a clean install of the OS (or something like that -- with acronyms and stuff) so all my files are backed up and quasi-accessible and not in the same place I am. I hae a story. I swear. I'm a'comin'

(and thank you very much for mine, mysterious elf)

... child in the back of this car ...

"Are we nearly there yet? Are we nearly there yet?"

:D

Mine is still coming along -- I made good progress today, but I can't keep my eyes open any longer.

If I become the last one out, I'll be happy to send along what I have so far and then pass the rest along when it's done -- that would provide an excerpt as well, for the guessing. I'm so sorry it's taking so long.

I hereby volunteer to run the next one -- and to stay out of the writing for it!

I do appreciate the opportunity, though. It makes me write things I would never have thought of, otherwise, and I like how this story is shaping up.

Given my oddball work schedule, I may have to insist on a final deadline of
Tuesday, October 15. I should be able to be at the computer until about 11 pm Eastern Time (USA) on that date. After that you may not be able to hear from me for a week.

I have received stories from:

Springs

Hopewrites

Mouse

Sinister42

Ratsy

Perpetual Man

Stormcrow

Phyrebrat

Victoria Silverwolf

If you have tried to send me something and your name is not on this list, let me know.

I think everyone whose name is not on this list has expressed reasons for the delay, with the exception of TacticalLoco, who has not posted anything on this forum since September 13th. I hope all is well with TL, and there is some benign reason for this.

I hope to hear from others soon.

A big THANK YOU to TheDustyZebra for being willing to do this again in the future. Just let us know when.

Oh dear, that isn't good. I hope so, too!

Hey, I'm pretty sure I can handle that end -- it's the whole whooshing deadline thing that's got me in trouble so far!

It's already October, and I'm sure some of us (please, gods, not me) will be attempting NaNoWriMo in November...anyone?...anyone?...Bueller? December brings on Christmas and stuff, so it's probably January for the writing, unless people want it sooner. You tell me.

I reckon that ought to be your call, Dusty. It's your time you'll be giving up!

Otherwise; three weeks next Wednesday lunchtime, or thereabouts!:p

I've recovered my story from an ancient disk at the bottom of a dusty well! I'll get it in by the end of the week. Honest.

Careful of what you find in wells.

Due to the fact that I mixed up my assignments, everyone should have received at least one story by now. (Some of you will have two.)

If you have not received anything at all, let me know and I'll try to send you one.

Sinister -- that's almost exactly how it happened. If you look closely you can see the disk clutched in my hand... ;)

Now that i am back to the interweb I have read my story. Thank you to the contributor for a sweet, original take on the request.

Let me know if you need a spare story. I gave a spare to KMQ last time so can send that if we're short.

Thanks.

Due to my mistake in keeping track of the assignments, I believe I have sent something to everybody (even if it was the wrong thing) and more than one to a few.

I've received a story twice, Victoria :D, but it was the correct one both times. Don't worry about this all, anyway, you've done a perfect job, especially with some of our procrastinations
