Sekrit Santa II -- Let's Do This Again

Thank you for the support, folks.

I have sent an "extra" story to a couple of people where it is 100% obvious that they got the wrong one.

I have yet to receive stories from:

Phyrebrat
Hex
TheDustyZebra
TacticalLoco
Kylara

(I am just listing these names in case anybody tried to send me something and I did not get it.)

Well, it's only the 30th, sheesh! :D

I'm trying to finish mine, though I may be wishing it were a longer month. Let's not do this in February, ok?

I was going to say that I was regretfully delayed over the weekend, but in truth I was unashamedly delayed over the weekend -- my Amazon order of David Tennant's Casanova and Hamlet came in on Friday. I haven't gotten to Hamlet yet, but I found it necessary to watch Casanova (3 hrs) twice. Sorry. Well, no, I'm not. But it's a rather pitiful excuse next to Phyrebrat's.

I know, I know, I can hear my father's voice in my ear, saying that something on the final weekend wouldn't delay me if I had been done before that. "How long have you known about this assignment?"

Before I turn in...

Tish, Victoria: no apology needed from you!

We're lucky to have someone organising this - if that were me, everyone'd be reading my youngests maths homework!:D

Seconded! Thanks for your efforts Victoria (and my offer still stands to organise the next one :) ) And also, so glad you're in on this Stormcrow - can't wait to read yours.

Hahaha! I can't believe you and I have the same voice in our heads! I was speaking to mine on Sunday and moaning about missing my deadline because of the Hackney thing and he said that. He actually said; 'did you know the deadline was coming?' and I said 'yep' and he said, 'then you've no-one to blame but yourself.' (This is the man who told me it was my own fault when I missed paper 1 of my Physics GCSE because I was knocked off my bike! I do love 'im tho :D)

Anyway, I received mine today and although I am still working on my own, I just allowed myself to read the opening paragraph of my story. Whoever wrote it has me so excited. It opens wonderfully and is right up my street. I can't wait to read it. :)

I hope I get to see the list before I go to New York on friday! My hotel has wifi so when my wife asks why I am on my phone instead of looking at the beautiful city, it will all be Sekrit Santas fault.

I feel a bit guilty as I didn't even try to hide who I was to the recipient. Having said that, they would have known because of the characters I used. But really must try to remember the sekrit bit next time.

But the first time we did it we were all told who'd written our stories. I knew mine was from Phyrebrat. It's only the non-recipients who don't know.

I'm not taking the "secret" part too seriously. It's obvious, for example, that sinister42 and I are swapping stories, since that was a last-minute request and there was nobody else left. I have not come out and told anybody who wrote what story, but it may be obvious in many cases.

I'm a little behind! Printer died then no-one had new one in stock even though they had said they did, and then numerous crazy things happened, mainly recently widowed neighbour (a good friend) had the farm sale and so she was not wanting to be alone over the weekend (understandably) so we had fun with trying to cheer her up, now phone has broken and needs to be sent of, and university has screwed all the timetables up so it is all up in the air, BUT I will try and finish it as soon as possible, it probably won't be very long, and it may be a little messy, but I will get it done. Sorry

I've just had a quick read of the one sent to me and, although it was a quick read through, thought it was absolutely brilliant. Good description with some stupendous ideas, and written well enough to give it a bit of atmosphere that really brought it to life.

I'm quite glad I don't know who wrote it as I've been trying to work out who wrote it, and have been trying to avoid the lists of who has submitted so far so I can't narrow it down that way.

So far I haven't got a clue. It's more a case of who has not written it...

I'm excited to do another one of these - next time I'll sign up in time to do an actual secret thing. :)

Really enjoyed the story I received; there are brilliant minds here!

banana not writing mosh?

bi-annual nonsense and niftyness on wirten request i must over-write?

but we do it more often than bi-annually...

heheheh. I am terrible at coming up with things like this so I will have to have a think :)

Okay, I have mailed mine to Victoria... only two revisions so I hope it is not like reading something from one of my year 9s logbooks :D

Now I can read mine (I was delay-rewarding myself until I'd finished my own)

Well I want to say a big thank you to the author of my story!:)

A lovely horrible yarn that was right up my street and which I thoroughly enjoyed. I have no idea who wrote it other than they were not British - or if they were, then very clever at a double bluff;)

Also, one of the themes was scarily similar to the one I wrote for my recipient! I was actually caught bellowing 'NO WAY!' on the tube

Just found this thread. It sounds brilliant. I would like to take part next time you do this. :)

Is there a word target or limit?

Do all the stories end up getting posted?
