Sekrit Santa II -- Let's Do This Again

I just sent mine. I got a real fun one and wrote about some characters I know well that I think this person will enjoy, and managed to get some of their personal likes into it, I think. One element was stretched a little, though. :)

Oh, and anyone who's read my stuff will know it's mine from the first line, Victoria, if you want some mystery you might want to x out the characters' names.
 
With the one I did for alc last time, springs, I changed the characters' names because I knew both you and (possibly if I'm remembering rightly) amw had read the original story where the characters first appeared and didn't want you to recognise the names. Then I changed them back later.

If you put xxx, uh... we might guess it's you. :p
 
Mouse, I wanted to finally guess one right!!

Springs, I have not even had a spark of a thought for my story and you're done!
 
If it's any consolation, I cheated and rehashed a very old short. But I did loads of editing and changing and took nearly as long anyway, and thought the person would enjoy it.

Looking at the list, only Hex and le Mouselet will recognise the names, so I don't think it's a problem.

Walks off, wishing she was as smart as Mouse and had thought to change them.
 
i have a couple hand written pages. but then the character took an unexpected turn and i dont know whether to ford ahead or scrap it and start again

I've done about 1000 words of my not-so-secret story.

The story from springs has been received. I note that it contains a bit of personalization at the front and end (something to the effect of "To So-and-So, from So-and-So") that would give away the game. How much do you care about the "sekrit" aspect of this game? Would you like me to send it on with the personalization intact?

According to my messy notes, I now have e-mails addresses for everybody except ratsy, Mouse, Kylara, and sinister42.
 
Oops, sorry, Victoria. They are a message for the recipient, not part of the story. I don't mind them knowing it's from me, so I thought forwarding it with the (silly) messages would be good. Chaos'r'us here!

OK, thanks. I will send it on with the personalized greetings.

When we do the guessing game here, I will delete them from the excerpt. (I'm thnking of changing all personal names in the excerpts to something like "XXXX" for the guessing game, but that's subject to discussion.)
 
I have an idea and have been kicking it around in the old noggin' a little before committing; we'll see how that shapes up soon enough!
 
I have a page of stuff that leapt out and grabbed me and made me write it but now I'm stuck and I don't know where it's going to go next... grumble.
 
Since we're sharing, I started one but didn't like the way it was going. Plus my daughters were begging for a story set in a certain lost world. (Hint, but I make no direct references.)

Any road I have the basic plot outlined, so now just have to do that writing part.

P.S. First day back at school in about two hours!

Last night I was going to post a 'same here, ratsy' as I have not one clue on how to tackle my reader's request. Instead I got engrossed in .... er...stuff [cough] Assassin's Creed [/cough] and didn't get on here. :eek:

However, this morning inspiration came and now I have a loose concept.

Still nothing on paper, mind, but I'm a bit more relaxed. Now if I can get my 75 word entry, Schemes of Work and Lesson Plans done before I start back at schools on Monday I'll be able to start thinking about this in earnest.

I got started on mine last night! :D

Unfortunately, the kiddos were particularly restless and I didn't have much time after they finally gave up and fell asleep, but hey -- half a page is better than none!

I should add that I got the plot all fleshed out in my head during my lunchtime walk around the park yesterday, which was more actual progress than the half page on paper. At least I know where it's going now.
 
Hey gang, well I have managed to come up with an idea. So far it's not fully into the exact requested theme so I will have to work on that but it is flowing and I have 553 words down so that is a start!

edit: up to 1,035!!!

I've just finished. I'm not sure that it is the best thing I have ever done, but I had fun writing it, and will probably try and go back to it again and tidy it up a bit.

Hope it is okay at 25,000 words.
