Sekrit Santa II -- Let's Do This Again

Perp, how do you write so much so quickly?! I've only just hit 40k on my novel and I've been working on it for months.

And Hex, I'm on 0 words, so you're beating me!

Perp, 25,000 words...really...really?

I snuck out my 1,000+ and will be doing renovations on my old condo for the next 3 days so will have zero time for anything but sleep. And I was getting into a flow too..damn it

I wrote 21 words for mine this eve! They're not in order though. But hey! I have 21 words now!

You who has no time for challenges comments and wrote a 25k story.... No, surely not. :p :D

Uh-oh rumbled!

Seriously though, I am finding writing very therapeutic at the moment, but 25,000 words is pushing it a bit (although NanoWriMo shows it could be done ;))

The story is about 3,300

Writing the stories is a bit easier - I can write wherever I am without an internet connection and the need to refer to the stories - on my tablet, Kindle or even phone.

mouse - I was a lot younger then... I don't think I could write like that today (or would even want to) :D

Re: Cold feet....

I had a crisis of 'faith' in how much of my story is hitting the request. I think I'm okay but yesterday I was about to start a third attempt.

Why's it so much more difficult this time? First attempt was rejected because the characters started doing what they wanted instead of what I wanted (plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose), then the second one gave me cold feet yesterday. And I think it is going to be another long one; I don't want to risk writing something so long for it to be wrong.

Anyway, I know I'm just moaning. But a man's got to vent, right. ;) (and I hate my new job)

what is your horrible new job, phyrebrat? and can you take the first and second story attempt and get them to gang up on all the horrible aspects of the job for you? strictly to amuse yourself? would you like some cat haz chezburger type emails to help?

:D Oh god I hate cats.

Well... it's OT, but briefly: my thesis was about how state education teaches dance to inner city kids, and how redundant and outmoded it is. I took a job teaching in Hackney on Mons and Tues that follows the exact model of teaching that I oppose...

So I'm either a sell-out or a wh**e.

Or just like the rest of us and, y'know, need to eat... Don't be hard on yourself, your principles will make a difference (and survive.)

I'm going to have to start over too. I really cant write where my characters want to go, AND its not what was asked for.
*sigh*

*wanders away from writers block looking for new path forward*

For what it's worth, I'm not too bothered if the characters decide to take my story (the one being written for me) somewhere unexpected. I could cope with jazz hands and everything, if it had to be that way.

Phyre -- what springs said. I also like money. It buys food and shoes and all sorts of useful household items. Also: I bet you're making a difference anyway -- the kids have a teacher who cares. And you can be examining the system from the inside, to see why it's like that and the best ways to change it :)

I agree with Hex and Spring.
When I took compulsory dance, I understood that I was being taught something that everyone expected we would never use. But it opened up a world I feel in love with, and would otherwise never have known was there.

just sayin.
