Discussion thread -- SEVENTY-FIVE WORD WRITING CHALLENGE November 2013

I liked the story I wrote this morning, for a short while, but I've been having doubts ever since. This will teach me not to write the story until the last couple of hours.

* Gets back to editing. *

As my entry is in, there can't be long to go before the Challenge closes.

(In fact there are just over 26 minutes left.)

Oh, and thanks for the mini-review, Victoria. :)

Welcome back! Sorry to hear about your computer, but I hope it's ok now.

Welcome back, Starbeast. Your absence was noted and you were missed.

Hope your computer situation is back to normal now. :)

SB - I really noticed that you were missing and am glad to have you back. It'd be interesting to see your original story sometime, great minds thinking alike and all that. ;)

StarBeast!!!!!!
(he's back! he's back! he's back!!! :D)

Welcome back starbeast glad it was only a broken computer that kept you away

Nice to see you back, Sb. So you didn't know you were the winner of LPITTW for two days? :D

Thanks for the love folks, it made me feel awesome! :)

This was very hard to judge. I found it impossible to come up with a short list. I was also unable to choose the best of the many pastiches, spoofs, and comedies, so instead I'll just list three favorites from other categories.

Bronze: "Deadly Whispers" by martin321. I thought this was the best of the many ghost stories submitted for this contest, mostly because of the emotional impact of its introspective narration.

Silver: "Through A Lens, Darkly" by mosaix. I thought this was the best of the pure crime stories. I greatly admired the sense of struggle between professionalism and personal feelings.

Gold: "Almost Rich and Famous" by Parson. I had to pick this one for my vote for two reasons. It was the most original variation on the theme, and it dealt with a daring and important theme.

A strange collection of stories this month, but Boneman gets my vote.

I had to discount a lot because they dealt with a secret rather than secrets. Also there were some I just didn't understand (probably my fault).

And thanks for the mention, Victoria.

Victoria,

Here, I am wasting time before my Saturday night run through for Sunday, and what to my wondering eyes should appear? A vote!!! Thanks so much.

I voted for Harebrain's outrageously clever take on the theme. I loved Abernovo's story too -- it was a very close thing this month!

Thanks for the mention, Hex. :)

Right, off to read them all again. This is going to be a difficult vote - when is it not, though?

I found a few of them a little dark, even for my taste. My shortlist was:

Anya's gay officers
glen's outing of TJ
alchemist's lovely blend with fantasy
Ronin Jedi's last line which made me laugh
Harebrain's clever and funny take
Paranoid Marvin with his nice historical take

I got the shortlist down to Anya, Alc and Ronin and voted for Alchemist's.

Wow I logged on this morning to find a vote! Thank you very much sevenstars I struggled to get a tale this month so very happy to get a vote.
