Thanks very much for the votes Karn, Glen, Mith, Starbeast, Springs and Fitzchivalry. I am now officially scared.

Thank you very much for the vote Glen. I am glad you liked it :)

Many fascinating and unique interpretations of the picture. Very enjoyable! And again very difficult to narrow down to a short list and favorite three.

But finally I did it.

Short List and Favorites:
1. A MILLION, AND ONE REASON – springs
2. The Fog of War - Victoria Silverwolf
3. Survival – TitaniumTi
4. A Dark and Stormy Realm - martin321
5. A Man Walked Into a Bar … - mosaix
6. Fate Smiles – fitzchivalry
7. Bioluminescence – chrispenycate
8. Twas the Night Before Australia Day – HareBrain
9. The World Goes Out With a pfffff – Phyrebrat
10. EBONY, OAK AND IRON - Teresa Edgerton
11. Match-3K – Brev
12. The Tomorrow Beyond - The Spurring Platty

Well done, springs, TitaniumTi & Phyrebrat!

Thanks to jonnyjet, fitz and starbeast for the mentions. Much appreciated. :)

Now, Harebrain. Hadn't we barred him? :D

You might be thinking of the HareBrain who's done quite well in some of the 75-word challenges. The best I've ever done in the 300 was third, I think. Not that I'm after any sympathy votes, but it's been a constant source of anguish to my poor sick mother.

I've had a grand total of two(?) votes in all my 300 worders (an not many more in my 75s). I have no sympathy for your mother. And she should post the stories under her own name, not yours.

:D

You have to admire his mother, though, writing all those stories from her sickbed. Amazing stamina!

_____

Thank you johnnyjet for the short-listing, and a big thank you to Mouse for the vote.

I recommend an audit (you can tell I'm an accountant) of HB votes, just to make sure Mom hasn't voted for HB.

Although... now I think of it!

Mum.... :)

P.S - Keep going lad, good job.

By the way, sorry for all the wild and crazy fonts in my posting of my short list & votes. I thought I had fixed them. Now that I look back at my posting, it appears I have gone off the deep end. Really, I haven't lost it! Really!

Calm, calm; you're allowed to lose it here (you might even get help in finding it again, should you have any need for it, which IMNSHO you probably won't).

Thank you for the mention, and MASSIVE thanks to Starbeast for the vote.

So, I have taken the plunge, with votes for:-
David Evil Overlord's Supervillain we all recognise
Glen's Against stupidity, the Gods themselves contend in vain.
The Judge's trip to Genève, with Mary Wollstonecraft

And mentions for The Spurring Platty, Phyrebrat and mosaix.

Don't the tree-hundred worders take a while to compare?

Shortlist:

Springs - A MILLION, AND ONE REASON.

3D characters, strong story and a careful choice of words. A powerful ending, packed full of feeling.

Bowler1 - Breaking Dawn

Suspense and tension captured very well in this vivid scene. I thought about this one a lot after.

Victoria Silverwolf - The Fog of War

I never stumble when I read Victoria's entries. Another fantastic tale which trickles smoothly into the eyes.

Fitzchivalry - Fate Smiles

A brilliant twist that was set up with care, timed perfectly for the ending of an original concept.

BigJ - The Price of Victory

Clear and engaging dialogue stood boldly from an awesome backdrop.

Perpetual Man - The Spanner in the Works

This picture, not unlike Avatar, was described so well and carried a lot of heart.

Rafellin - Inspector

The image of the inspector was built up spectacularly, so that when the end arrived, I shared in his horror.

Teresa Edgerton - Ebony, Oak and Iron

This really showed me how much story can be told with 300 words. Also, I love it when 'Happily Ever After' gets a reality check.

TheDustyZebra - Ghost in the Machine

The situation hooked me and the story unfolded at just the right pace. I really liked the last line.

Abernovo - Becoming

I enjoyed the eerie sensation this one gave me. I loved all the questions that were answered, and all the answers that were left up to me.

VOTES:
Springs - A MILLION, AND ONE REASON.
Bowler1 - Breaking Dawn
Fitzchivalry - Fate Smiles

A big thank you to springs, Martin321 & Starbeast for mentioning my entry :)

And a monstrous gratitude-ridden "THANK YOU" to Refellin for the vote, really appreciated :D

Breaking Dawn[/B]

Suspense and tension captured very well in this vivid scene. I thought about this one a lot after.

A comment like that Remedy is worth all the votes in the world. My words having an impact is more than I could hope for - but a vote is good too.:)

I've never had three votes before.
