What are you working on right now?

Reworked another chapter and still have a big chunk of new stuff to go in.

I'm trying to do a small writing session every night this week and am down to the last couple scenes in Sleepy Grove. Hoping to finish this weekend!

Doing some background setting for Gumshoe Paladin, written in the MC's voice to get a complete handle on it. Also trying to think of a proper name for it...

Wait... a proper name? Half the sell for me was the name! GP is a cool name and I wish you'd stick with it.

You were the one telling me I needed to think of another name for it! Or was it Dan?

In any case, it was only ever a working project name. Its a cool one, but the tone it suggests doesn't really fit the book.

Ah, that's a shame - I kind of liked the title (it had gumption:)) but I guess if it's not right, it's not right.
I also like the name. Don't throw it away, keep it and use it for another book. Somewhere deep in your thoughts you had or have an inspirational reason for the name. It needs to sit and simmer for awhile before you can articulate it. Once it is articulated it will be a great story.

Lafayette is right and that is, hopefully, what will happen.

Which is all the more reason for GP as is to find its own name. The name will not find the story when it is already associated with one. Although I think what it would be is something very Pratchettian.

Certainly not me! (I can imagine @Dan Jones 's mean little face telling you that, though - he told me to retitle A Sour Ground to Killy Killy Ghost-ghost... )

So, if I refused to now read it...bearing in mind my interest was predicated on the title - and I don't read fantasy (for two points!) - will that change your mind :p

I am happy to say that last week I finished my first draft of Sleepy Grove! It was a book I started after writing a fun short story a couple years ago. I started the novel then, and eventually got stuck and sidetracked. I then went on to write The Event, which I am in the midst of reviewing edits for, and then to some final revisions. Last november for NaNo I decided to go back to the Grove, and started from scratch, with the same premise, and now have a much improved story. So happy to have my second novel written.

After I finish The Event run through, I am going to move on to second draft SG, and start the sequel to The Event, which I am outlining already. Should be fun!

Seeing as @ratsy is determined to shame me with my SG, and because he didn't take the hint on Facebook this week when I gave him an angry smiley, here are my stats for SG as of bedtime tonight:

I'm 8.1K into the 1347 timeline which I started a couple weeks or so ago - mayhap longer, and here is a screencap of my entire project stats from Scrivener...

Okay, Nath, now can I go sleep?

(nb 'Characters' above does not refer to how many people are in this story, but I expect it's getting close to that number ;) )

I'm about 18K into the sequel to my zompoc novel. I've been sick and feeling really tired the last couple of weeks so I'm about 20K behind. Boo. Hiss. Of course, in the meantime I've done a cover, finished a short and published another collection that's actually getting page reads in KU. Shocker. And I redid the author "photo" for two pen names, because I didn't like the others. I've been studying some more on this whole marketing thing I'm expected to do, because how else will I get people to buy these things?

Artwork for the serial, and redrafting Traitor's Prize.

Working on an outline for a new novel, which is currently around chapter 9. Hopefully this will give me more guidance when I start writing to avoid unnecessary turns.
